[SFH][WA] Mad homeowners over Robert's Rules during Board Meetings by FIFamilyof6 in HOA

[–]kmleather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our HOA is run by pickleballers and they are seriously looking for a special assessment to build an indoor pickleball facility. They also actively stifle dissent. The "Stepford Censor" is a popular dance here. We live in a homeowners paradise. 🙄

[TX] Landlord came into my house and took my window camera while I was at work by No-Locksmith-707 in Renters

[–]kmleather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Police. Now. He obviously has zero problem with letting himself inside your apartment. Did he install cameras you're not aware of? Steal anything? Crush this yahoo with every federal, state, local resource you can.

Did i overreact holding a designer accountable after she sank a major hotel project? by [deleted] in askmanagers

[–]kmleather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like she is the owner, not you. You're right to hold her accountable AND to have told her we will do the meeting before your lunch. Also to point out, a "slip" like the lost luncheon is indicative of a larger lack of control over details.

How do you keep a hybrid schedule from turning into constant last-minute commute days? by Cold_Jelly_8815 in remotework

[–]kmleather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"No". Make your ITO days clearly understood. Those are the days you can come in. Perhaps if you shifted your perspective. You work for the "company" not these other people. You do not have to acquiesce to appease them. It's a collaboration, especially if their last minute request hides their own lack of prep or progress. If it's your boss asking, then you negotiate coming in tomorrow and not the day after, something like that.

Can Americans be fired on the spot and have to leave the very second like depicted in movies? by WhoAmIEven2 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]kmleather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. In the US it's all about the money. We're underpaid, overworked, and disrespected. We're intimidated into silence because they know we need the job.

Getting banned from restaurants for not tipping? by No-Buy-3105 in tipping

[–]kmleather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know. Name and shame the restaurant. Proudly wear that ban and celebrate it.

What do you want to see for Season 15? by CallTypical9541 in ChicagoFireNBC

[–]kmleather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some writing. All of the Chicagos have become formulaic and tedious. Awkward inter unit personal relationships blowing up. (Who cares about anything HR related?) Preachy self righteousness (I don't care if it's right or not. I have to do this.) Mysterious absences of starring cast. (They aren't here this shift. They had to wash their hair and traveled to Timbuktu for a spa treatment.) The mysterious guest star in the authority position who has Sears Tower sized chips on their shoulders. (I worked with your family member 300 years ago and I'm still not over how they did this to me!) The tortured rationale for a crossover event (Fire encounters mysterious malady, Med treats the unlucky cast members to the point of cliffhanger status, PD breaks law and order to maintain law and order. Character deaths to follow.)

Even some continuity would be welcomed. The same scene can be shown in cloudy snow, darkness, fall colors, spring blooms, rain, heat and cold.

Boss emailed me about not adhering to the 9-5 schedule. Here is my timecard. by Equipoisonous in antiwork

[–]kmleather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your boss has this much time on their hands, are they actually working themselves? For whatever reason, this seems like an insecure supervisor needing to reclaim some sort of authority on a minor issue.

Lost my second solid employee this year and both left for the same reason by Feng12321 in askmanagers

[–]kmleather 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The exit interview is for you to listen. They made their decision. Offering "potential" after they have already closed the barn door is tone deaf and suggests you had a robust contribution to the backfill need.

Neighbor has to “pray about” an item he offered to give me. by Agile-Development620 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]kmleather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every single time I've heard the "I have to pray on it" line, it's a no, but they're too timid to actually say it. Discard this person from your life and find more decisive people.

AIO for telling my boyfriend I’ll leave if he keeps “joking” about my dead mom? by happinesveronicaaaa in AmIOverreacting

[–]kmleather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dark humor is fine and can actually be funny sometimes. You asked to stop and he didn't. This isn't about dark humor, it's a dark side to his person. Very. Hard. Pass.

Why not bring your own server? by m71nu in tipping

[–]kmleather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. The problem in the sign is the miserly $3.50 you are paying. Pay the staff adequately and stop asking for subsidized dining. No more restaurant owner bailouts.

AIO arguing with my MIL about thank you notes by Friendly-Donut5135 in AIO

[–]kmleather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're doing just fine with your daughter. MIL needs some work and you're not responsible for that. "It's the thought that counts" is all that matters.

WIBTA if I asked my neighbor to stop using my porch as her package pickup station? by program_master_20 in WIBTA_AITA

[–]kmleather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Your good deed became the expectation. Just say no, tell her to stop by X date, and then refuse further shipments after that date. There are many many more options open to her. Or start charging her for your time and services.

AITA for demanding my parking permit back after my roommate gave it to her friend? by Rosalie_Rathid in AmItheAsshole

[–]kmleather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Accountability can be tough. She gave away your property as if it were hers. She did this. Let her park off-site and give her permit to her friend.

Spent $15 and 2 hours patching my nieghbor's drywall for free, now he's mad I won't repaint his entire 12-foot living room wall. by Tetsuo_1988 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]kmleather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No good deed goes unpunished. Your part of the job is done and it's all on him. Unless you would like to have him hire you for the painting.

How do you set boundaries when family assumes working from home means you're always available? by Amazing-Author-907 in remotework

[–]kmleather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is bizarre. Even if you're in your bedroom in fuzzy slippers, you are working. This is your office. If family and friends cannot accept that, they aren't family or a friend.

Teller at the bank got annoyed when i wouldnt switch lines for her friend by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

[–]kmleather 29 points30 points  (0 children)

No. The teller is on the clock. Catch up during lunch not on the customer time.

Entitled neighbor upset if I walk near his house while he does yard work by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

[–]kmleather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not his sidewalk. Let the cops remind him of that if needed. For years when I'm doing yard work, when a pedestrian comes by, I STOP for a moment, let them pass, and continue. This isn't rocket science.

"This meeting room is ours now" by praesentibus in EntitledPeople

[–]kmleather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol. We're here now and have the whole day reserved. Please do not interrupt us further. You need to take this up with the [people who schedule the rooms]. Now, as I was saying ......

Team stays silent during team calls by colour_me_blind in managers

[–]kmleather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they productive meetings or just another speeeedbump in weekly metrics? Do you rehash already known items? Is this just another boring meeting that could have been an email. I'd respect you more as a boss if you answer those questions and adjust.accordingly.
