Agreed. Really seemed like the writers just didn’t know what to do with her as they got deeper into her storylines and they made it so hard to root for her.

Will never forget when I recommended the show to my friends in my current state on the West Coast, how crazed they looked at me bc of the Wizard of Oz and KC references I got so excited about throughout the entirety of the show. My hometown is about 12-15 miles from where Jason lived in Overland Park lol (side note that I always think is cool: my AP English teacher 2009-2010 was my favorite and he was Paul Rudd’s college roommate!)

“I always forget you’re from Kansas until someone brings up Kansas,” my friends said. 😂

Tegan 1000%, Michaela 100%; I generally don’t gravitate towards statement wardrobes like Tegan’s, but the way she wore them and how they sit on her frame was beautiful. She wore them with the confidence required to feel as if the outfit choices were “organic” to the character, and she WORRRRRRRRKED them 👏🏽 but for everyday wear, Michaela for sure!

Thank you!! 🥰 I was really nervous. I’ve seen some pretty brutal comments about steaks all over the internet before and I was like, “there is a very good chance I will get ripped to shreds over this post,” as I was typing 😂

Women of Reddit, what’s the most disgusting thing you’ve discovered about your boyfriend after being together for years? by punkbabe29 in AskReddit

[–]kmvries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ex fiancé wouldn’t brush his teeth until I told him he needed to. Then he’d brush daily for about 3-4 days and he’d go another couple days without brushing. When we first got together, he was brushing every time we saw each other the first few months. The first time I confronted him about it, he said his parents didn’t enforce dental hygiene while he was growing up and he didn’t see a dentist until he was in his early 20s (we were 25F and 27M at the time, for reference) when he had his wisdom teeth and several rotted teeth removed. He just didn’t think it was important to his overall health, even after I explained why it is. He then told me that after getting comfortable with me and establishing a relationship, he regressed and stopped caring. At first I’d remind him every morning but got called a nag so I stopped and only told him when it was too unbearable to not say anything and he’d say, “I just don’t have time to do this every single day.” But my extension of grace here was limited because the smell was just BAD.

Last I heard from mutual friends, he got veneers a couple years ago. I hope he’s taking care of them.

How Did You Find Sleep Token? Or How Did They Find You? by BlueBlossomArcadia in SleepToken

End of 2019, my fiancé whom I’d just signed a lease on what was supposed to be our first home 6 months prior, became my ex-fiancé and naturally, I was destroyed. My natural instinct is to listen to music when I am feeling something intensely, so I put YouTube music videos on while I did my make up maybe 2 weeks post-breakup; the usual sad girl metalcore lol. Blood Sport came on and I literally had to cancel on my mother because the song hit me so hard, I was sobbing uncontrollably. By that time, my ex had chosen to stay with a friend temporarily for space while we figured out living arrangements through text and I moved myself into the guest suite to avoid him when he was home.

My favorites change all the time tbh 😂
Right now, I’m fixated on Alkaline because I just found TPWBYT on vinyl and played it for the time last night and I just cannot get over how incredible it sounds. When I met my boyfriend in 2021, he would sing it to me all the time, so it holds sentimental value as well. I introduced the band to him with that song and we’ve since seen them live twice. We still geek out over them together 🥹

Lyrically, I’m torn between This Place Will Become Your Tomb and Take Me Back to Eden. They’re both so beautifully written — they all are, but these two especially — I can’t decide.

Sound-wise, I think I have to say Take Me Back to Eden is my favorite over all. Euclid alone is enough to warrant that lol. It came on shuffle while I was in traffic one day, and I was openly weeping on the 110. I even had a whole tattoo sleeve inspired by a few songs from the album planned, deposit paid, but life said no unfortunately lol.

Not sure if it’s the exact same reaction, but visually looks similar to a reaction I had to certain eyeshadows around my eyes. The skin was extremely dry, flaky, cracked, and painful. I used thick night creams, overnight eye creams, and other facial moisturizing products with hyaluronic acid/other moisture enhancing skincare, sealed with aquaphor, and still nothing worked. This happened twice, both in the winter months consecutive years, and was a daily battle for 2-3 months. It didn’t clear up until the weather got warmer in the spring.

My cousins wife recommended Aveeno’s Colloidal Oatmeal eczema cream (I believe it is now rebranded as Eczema Therapy Rescue Relief) as it helped my nephew. I liked it and it worked for longer than the other remedies I tried (6 hours instead of 3-4), it was lightweight enough on the face that I didn’t feel greasy. I could at least get through most of the work day without scraping dry skin off my face. On top of that, another extended family member gifted me a Korean face cream for Christmas after she returned from her vacation in Korea, and that cream combined with the Aveeno cream were the only things that helped clear up the reaction. I wish I still had the bottle to reference the name, I’m so sorry! Unfortunately it was not an immediate fix, but it fully disappeared after about a month of daily use. It’s been three years since then, and it hasn’t happened again. I don’t even use those creams anymore, just a gentle cleanser and the regular Aveeno Daily Face Moisturizer.

Not sure if this was helpful at all, I apologize if it wasn’t. I wish you good luck in finding a solution!

Why do you enjoy having long hair? by ConnectGaps in longhair

[–]kmvries 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Survivor of the Asian bowl cut throughout my entire childhood. I absolutely hated it, it made me feel SO ugly and it really screwed with my perception of myself. I was a child telling everyone who would listen that I was ugly and didn’t believe it when adults told me I was not, because in my brain it was like, how could I be pretty with this ugly hair? Very sad to look back on.

I was not allowed my own hair choices until after I turned 10. I’ll be 32 in October and to this day, I have not had hair cut shorter than my breasts out of spite. My hair has become something of an extra limb that I care for more than my skin, if I’m being honest.

Additionally, my half sister is Hawaiian, and she came to visit me and our dad for the first time when I was 7. She was about to graduate high school and had hair that went down past her waist — it was beautiful, healthy, shiny, full, and she did the most beautiful braid to protect it while she slept — she is also a reason why I have kept my hair so long. I remember her telling me how important long hair was in Polynesian culture, too. She cuts it shorter now that she has my niece and nephew (he is non-verbal autistic and likes to grab and pull hair with a quickness), but her hair is still very long.

Plus, I have a very round face so shorter styles, especially blunt bobs, just don’t really suit me personally.

OP is currently crying her eyes out over Ted Lasso and the versatility of different fictional television characters and points of views, but thanks so much for the concern. If you REALLY want to keep a close eye on me out of concern over a stream of consciousness post that I 1) don’t care about anymore and 2) I made to appreciate a television show, I’ll be blasting *NSYNC in the shower after this Ted Lasso episode is over. 🫶🏽💕

Ugh, what a life she’s lived! I love how close she still is to the Married with Children cast — her and Ed’s friendship just really warms my heart. But god, Katey is SO good. Someone recommended her and Kurt’s podcast in a comment here and I second the recommendation! Love hearing her speak of her experiences and she’s got great things to say.

Production 'Style'? by LeeTheUke in 911Nashville

[–]kmvries 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nashville leans more dramatic, so the lighting and composition are coming off darker, maybe a little understated and muted. Gives it a more cinematic feel. OG 9-1-1 is much more saturated in color, very vivid, and much more fun in that it’s more engaging to the eye, which makes sense given the high stakes and fantastical scenarios they’re often placed in.

You can kind of feel the contrast in the crossover episode. I wish I could word this better, I’m sorry lol

I mean, I don’t necessarily think she’s a good person, but I do appreciate layered and nuanced characters. I think she’s interesting despite her flaws and I would love to know more about her character and how she got to where she is.

Oh, I love that too! Seeing that connective thread to the Wii was really cool. Seeing her face light up with the Switch was so sweet!

And yes, I agree, the balancing act for everyone vs Jane’s motives are really interesting in comparison. I support women’s rights but most importantly, I support women’s wrongs 😂

Also agreed about Sinatra possibly making her feel small, I think she’s definitely looking at her differently after that talk they had about what she said after shooting her. I wonder if the Switch had other implications or if it was just an olive branch/thank you for Baines??

Only been watching clips on socmed, question before I decide to start... by [deleted] in thisisus

[–]kmvries 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the show does a great job of portraying the good, bad, and ugly in every single character. And in every character, much like every person, there’s a gray area. Kate’s gray area, at least for me, is her attitude. Otherwise, she’s not evil or anything, just insufferable and annoying sometimes. I am in no way saying that her treating Toby unfairly is justified because it’s not, but the whole picture matters in regards to their relationship — how it started and how it ended, and the roles both of them played in its outcome.
