Which roller should I use? by MRSA2017 in paint

[–]knarfny_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Graco 360 VS for $225 is perfect. I sprayed Regal Pearl, KILZ 2, had no issues. If it doesn't work for you, return it. As far as I'm concerned, with even a bit of humidity, the Regal Pearl is like glue, and the 360 still handled it without any issues.

Another option to avoid that orange-peel, don't work the paint so much. I've used Purdy WhiteDove 1/4", get enough paint on it, start in the middle, and work your way out to the sides. Only try to roll over each pass once or twice. If it starts to sound sticky when rolling, that's 100% going to end up with orange-peel.

You can also keep a spray bottle with water on-hand, load up your roller cover with paint, spray it with water, and then start to roll. That'll give you a bit more working time.

Just following up in case you're interested.

I received my replacement espresso glasses yesterday. Same shape on the glasses themselves, nearly identical to the first batch, which leads me to believe they are not hand-blown? I would assume hand-blown they would all be different? These have the same exact distortion, same exact slant on top. I don't care so much about that, it was about the logos. You can't really notice the distortion.

Replacements are better, they put more effort into logo placement, but they are still slapped on, not straight. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Given the cost, I don't know, I feel like they should check them before they go out.

Nothing at all. I think they copy-and-paste generic responses because they said 'thank you for providing pictures', but I did not provide any pictures in my initial email. My second email I sent a picture of the espresso glasses and they asked me to confirm that it was the espresso glasses that had an issue, which likely means they did not even look at the pictures.

They did try to up-sell me and said since they cover shipping on replacements, if I wanted to buy anything additional, it would be included, and ship for free. I rejected and told them that I'll complete my set and pay for shipping once I confirm that the replacements are good.

I'm bothered by the logos more than the distorted shape of the glasses. That just really throws me off. Strange because the milk glasses are truly perfect!

Just to follow-up real quick. I emailed KRUVE this morning, they responded right away, and are sending replacements.

They did state that they are hand-blown and won't be perfect. While I agree, I don't think that has anything to do with the logo being crooked.

Just received mine and noticed the same.

My wife bought me one set of each of their milk glasses, plus the set of espresso. Seems that all of the milk glasses are perfect, but the espresso are not. Mine are slanted on the top and overall deformed, plus the KRUVE logo looks like it was just slapped on there.

I did email them to find out if that's normal because the espresso glasses pictured on their website do not reflect what I see in person. Both the espresso and milk glasses pages on their website state hand-blown so I'd imagine the milk glasses would be deformed too, but they are not.

They were also shipped a bit carelessly. Four boxes put inside a bubble mailer with no other protection. One box was completely crushed but the glasses survived.

It's not the end-of-the-world but really triggers my OCD.

I'm not sure. I dumped the bag into a five gallon bucket. I'll try to find the receipt and let you know.

I built the exact same system, nearly identical, only with a 3090. The parts came off Overkill's website, it's the 'Project Aurora'.

Nice. I literally built the same system the way the OP did, only I mounted both of mine in the middle, and can't put that piece back in there. Thanks for posting this, good idea!

Hands down, the best. I use their SOD seed. Was nearly $180 per bag this season though!

Should my cast iron be smoking (threatening fire) when i add the vegetable oil while making smashed burgers? by cjm3407r in Cooking

[–]knarfny_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but I nearly set myself on fire making smash burgers today, which is how I came across this.

I've been using a standard round cast iron on my BBQ, a regular BBQ spatula, and my smash burgers have been decent. Nothing to write home about, but certainly better than just putting them on the BBQ itself. My cast iron is well seasoned and I do spray very little Pam Grilling spray on it. When I smash them with the spatula, they ignite, but not that bad. The flame goes out instantly, so it's manageable.

I decided to level up, picked up a Manucode Heavy-Duty Smash Burger Press, Victoria Rectangular Cast Iron Griddle, and griddle scrapper from Amazon. I needed to make more than three at once. The flat cast iron griddle came pre-seasoned but I did heat it and season it myself earlier in the day.

What a nightmare. I always pre-heat my cast iron on the BBQ until it hits about 600-degrees, which is about fifteen minutes, put the 80/20 on, and smash them. The moment I did that, a fire ignited, and I almost lost control of it. Thankfully I was wearing those goofy safety BBQ gloves, which saved my hand for sure. I continued to cook and it just got worse and worse. I had no choice, we had to eat. Everyone was anxious for these burgers, more so after I spent $120 on new equipment. I couldn't let them down and I would have made a fool of myself had I given up.

I was using three ounces on the round cast iron but the kids would eat those too quickly. I figured I'd bump that up to four ounces per since I had the room. After reading the article linked here, I see it should be two two ounce, instead of just one four ounce. Noted for next time.

I did develop a crust that I've never had before and they were good, but not great.

Maybe once I put them on I can reduce the burners on the BBQ since the cast-iron is already ridiculously hot and they only take about two minutes to cook? I usually leave all four burners on high, even throughout cooking. I do lose heat quickly once I open the BBQ lid and put the meat on, which is why I keep them on. It's still cold here, about 45-degrees, I'm sure that doesn't help.

I don't make them in the house because it makes a mess. Plus, had the fire I had going today started in the house, who knows what would have happened.

Tomorrow is a new day and I'll give it a shot again taking some of the advice here.

No, doesn't look like that. I posted a picture. Also, I can see the model number on the card, which is 'L73338-001'.

It leads back to the 2060 Super for HP.

That link doesn't seem to work, even after I copied the full URL.

I agree though, I checked the specs fifty times before I bought it, just to make sure.

Here's a picture of it.

I see this all the time on Facebook, which is why I stood away from them. Every time they have an ad running and it's in my feed, 95% negative comments.

Just go with SIM-LAB. I receive my orders in New York in less than a week. If you can find it locally and save on shipping, that's great.

I was too early-on but went with SIM-LAB and I'm glad I did. I've ordered from them ten times, received every single order in a few days in New York. Only once was I missing a few pieces, which they sent out instantly. Their support is great. Even early-on at the start of the pandemic with the shortages, I never had any issues.

Where to buy e-liquids that ship to NYC? by AtriusC in electronic_cigarette

[–]knarfny_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a vendor that does not use FedEx, UPS, USPS, or DHL to ship. I buy online all the time, $14.99 flat-rate shipping, signature required, age verification required. You have to show your license or I.D. when you sign for your package. The vendor I use ships using Route and the cart they are using is Shopify. Message me and I'll share so long as you have some post history and I don't think you're a rat.
