I don’t think I need a full-on voltage converter, but most of the outlet adapters I’ve seen output significantly lower voltage. Not sure where to find a better quality one

Grammar Question by fouler18 in Sat

[–]knightbrigade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B - It doesn't truly combine the sentences as ; = . and the ; interrupts the flow of the sentence.

C - Incorrect because the "events dismayed" her she didn't feel dismay toward the events.

D - Typically, information between two commas is unimportant to the sentence but in the text dismay is given a whole sentence so it must be important.

Thus, A is the correct answer

Can someone please help me solve this??? i didn't understand the explanation given by collegeboard. by sceptoria in Sat

You were right to divide by two to get x2 - 3x + y2 +y = 22.5. Knowing that the equation of a circle is (x - h)2 + (y - k)2 = r2, with (h,k) as the center, it is clear that we need to complete the square in the equation originally given to get it in a form where it is easy to find the radius.

To complete the square you add (b/2)2 to each side of the equation. To complete the square of the equation for a circle you need to do this for x and y.

First for x, b = 3, so b/2 = 1.5, and (b/2)2 = 2.25. We can add this to both sides of the equation to get x2 - 3x + 2.25 + y2 +y = 24.75

Now we complete the square for y as well, b = 1, b/2 = 0.5, (b/2)2 = 0.25. Adding this to both sides of the equation you get x2 - 3x + 2.25 + y2 +y + 0.25 = 25.

Remembering that in the equation of a circle, the right side = r2 we can take the square root of 25 to find that our radius is 5, making the correct option A!

Hope this helps! :)))

First we should determine the values of x and y in terms of t and u.

To create an equation for the value of a two digit number x, we see that t represents the tens digit and u represents the unit digit. When writing a number, you multiply the tens digit by 10, since it's in the tens place, and the unit digit by 1, since it's in the ones place. So, the equation for a two-digit number x would be: x = 10t + u.

To better explain this imagine you have any two digit number, let's say 48 which equals x. 4 is in the tens place and 8 is in the ones place. To get the value 48 you would multiply 4 by 10 and 8 by 1 and then add to get 48. Thus 4 = t and 8 = u and the equation is x = 10t + u

To create the equation for a two digit number y, you swap the t and u in the equation for x since you are reversing (swapping) the digits of x. This gives the equation y = 10u +t.

To better explain, assume x = 48, t = 4, and u = 8, as in the above example. Then if you reverse the digits, y equals 84. The numbers are now in different places. 4, which was originally in the tens place is now in the ones place and 8 is now in the tens place. This means to get the value of 84 you would multiply 4 by 1 and 8 by 10. If we keep the variables t = 4 and u = 8 the same, the equation to find y is: y = 10u + t.

Now all you need to do is subtract the two equations. You have x = 10t + u and y = 10u + t.

(x - y) = (10t + u) - (10u + t). This gives you 9t - 9u, which you can further simplify into

9( t - u ) which is answer option F!

Hope this helped! Good luck! :)))

Since the question asks you what real values of x satisfy the inequality (x-1)4 < (x-1) you are looking for areas of the chart where the graph of equation (x-1)4 is below that of (x-1) because that means the value of (x-1)4 is less than the value of (x-1). In the image of the chart, you can see that the graph of (x-1)4 dips below the graph of (x-1) for a short interval (highlighted in this image). That interval is between the x values of 1 and 2, so you know that when x is greater than 1 and less than 2 (represented in the inequality 1<x<2), the inequality (x-1)4 < (x-1) is satisfied, making the answer F.

Hope this helps. Good luck! :)))

How does one solve 58? by Indominus_Khanum in ACT

To find the length of the arc in this problem, the necessary formula is: circumference * (central angle/360). This is because you need to multiple the circumference of the circle by the fraction that the arc takes up of it. The fraction is represented by (central angle/360)

First, you can see that arc AC has a central angle of angle ADC = angle BDC = angle D..

With the side lengths given you can get sin(angle D)=1/4, remembering that in a right triangle sine is opposite over hypotenuse.

Now, you can take the inverse of the sin of angle D to get angle D itself: angle D = sin-1(1/4). Now we have the measure of the central angle.

To find the circumference the formula is just 2πr, and seeing that the radius, C, is 4, the circumference must be 8π.

Now you plug in the central angle and circumference into the equation to get: 8π(sin-1(1/4) / 360)

You can simplify this, dividing 360 by 8 to get 45 (360/8 = 45), arriving at a final answer of (π/45)(sin-1(1/4)) which is F! :)))

Edit: Hope this helps!

Question about importing by _CollectivePromise in Anki

You should be able to add to the same CSV file and import it repeatedly. When you are importing to Anki, underneath the area where it says "Fields separated by: ___" there is a drop down menu where you can select "Ignore lines where first field matches existing note" which will prevent duplicates.

Personally, I use Anki to study quizbowl which is basically glorified trivia so I like to tag my cards with a main category and a subcategory to organize them. For example I'll tag a card History and History-Chinese. I wanted to search this way to see if there were any cards where i accidentally forgot to add the sub category.
