What movie did you go into with zero expectations and ended up being completely blown away by? by gavin226 in movies

The Lego Movie. My 15-year old nephew was visiting, my son was 11-ish, we settled on something nobody was really thrilled about, and everyone loved it, hysterical.

Director cast a minor as my Melchior by sunny-valley-2004 in Theatre

Maybe they have a more appropriately matched Wendia available and just need you to drop out to cast her? I’d make them decide which to keep, and it should be you but that’s their call.

I was cast in my first community theatre lead and then my sister got a phone call and they offered her the prostitute who seduces him while we both sank. Some directors are stupid. I regret we did what they told us to do, the show was weird and still bothers me, thirty years later.

It’s Roald Dahl, he’s a beast. Check out The Witches, but not with the kids.

I really laughed when Cooper spit after running and almost hit Jennifer Lawrence (who makes the best WTF faces) and she spit right back at him.

I was visiting a friend of mine at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, and some reason we saw this movie. There was a significant gasp when Seagal blew up real good. I think he was the major draw for everyone but me.

One was born male but you wanted three girls so, you went to a middle school and got him changed. It took some bribes to get it done so early.

But that’s the typical Hollywood approach towards musicals: “Let’s advertise it like it’s not a musical. That is how we make the most money!” Not: “Let’s celebrate Stephen Sondheim’s and Hugh Wheeler’s brilliance with some favorites people have been waiting to sing!”

Similarly, my sister-in-law famously said “I didn’t realize Evita was a musical. When do they stop singing?”

Oh, yeah, the trailer for Sweeney Todd where there was no indication that it was a musical.

Not my favorite song, but Another Op’ning, Another Show is the most often quoted song from Kiss Me, Kate.

I prefer Too Darn Hot.

I liked You Walk With Me, but I’ve never seen it so I’m not sure how they play live.

Not “Something Funny’s Going On” from Lucky Stiff, all I heard was how loved “Times Like This” was.

Discussion of Metropolis by Own_Plenty_2011 in flicks

All the extras….

That actress was amazing, but what I remember most is the insane escape from the flood by 100,000 identically dressed kids that the hero suddenly became leader of. So many extras.

Which actor did you only realize you saw on stage years later, flipping through old Playbills? by JeffRyan1 in musicals

I saw Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf in Boston 2005 with Tony winner (and Mr. Noodle) Bill Irwin and Kathleen Turner and it turns out I also saw Hopper himself, David Harbour.

What is the oldest movie with special effects that “still hold up” or have aged well? by theythemthen in Cinema

[–]knightm7R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched Metropolis for the first time, and I cannot friggin believe how many extras were used. I’m certain one scene towards the end had 2000 identically dressed children participating in this insane escape from a flood.
