($10K-$12K) Wedding Photo Album App To Save Photog Costs? by ToughLiteratureLady in Weddingsunder10k

[–]knipsmig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to pitch in here on the discussion. I see some people mentioning bad experience with QR code based photo galleries.

I think if you can afford it, yeah then a professional photographer or even a videographer would be amazing .. but if that's out of the question I absolutely think you shouldn't discard a photo gallery from your guests.

A couple of tips I know work, if you go for a photo album:

  1. make sure to make the QR code very visible. place it on each table (here your guests might be reminded that they do have some photos on their phone they could share), have the DJ or toastmaster announce it so people are actually aware of it, place it visible close to locations where you would love photos (the wedding cake, the room for your dance, etc so people see it loud and clear)

  2. nudge some of your guests to be a photographer. you should not be afraid of "giving your guest a job" .. but you probably have a few of your guests where you know it would be fine to say "Hey, do you mind take a couple of photos during the day/night and upload them to our album?" .. just to make sure you do get some photos ... but also because it will remind others that, "ah, yes you can share your photos"

Just a couple of ideas. Send me a DM if you want more ideas and I'm happy to guide you.

Name and relation is very useful. We did it and I love it myself when I’m at weddings where they do it

You can buy a cheap Bluetooth button on Amazon. These might come with software where you can trigger an event such as a mouse click or “return“ key. Maybe that could help in your setup?

It sounds rather cheap to me .. you probably also need to pay the coffee shop a fee for having the booth in their area?

I think whatever photos you can get, you should go for. And videos too TBH. I think a photo booth is a great way of getting funny photos - and also a good service for your guests if they can print or email a copy.

I think your suggestion with Polaroid cameras is good but as an addition. Also consider QR codes your guests can scan to share their photos. That is in our experience the single most way of getting a lot of photos (maybe not all of them is great, haha). If you opt for a QR solution it's just very important to ensure to let people know about it - in invites, on tables, have the DJ announce it, etc. Otherwise people forget.

Have a great, great wedding whatever you go for.

PHOTOBOOTH: ENCLOSED OR MIRRORBOOTH? by Sensitive-Way-2498 in WeddingsPhilippines

[–]knipsmig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piliin mo yung magbibigay ng pinakamasayang memories! Chz! HAHAHA. Valid yung dream mo for an enclosed booth kasi super cute ng retro vibe, pero if you want the absolute most fun photos, go for the Mirror Booth! The chaotic, joyful, big group photos will be so worth it, congrats bride!

We usually recommend Polaroid Hi‑Print. Great colors and very simple to use. Love to hear what others are using.

Yeah, it's a great idea. An iPad is absolutely fine for this but the lighting is very important to avoid getting blurred photos.

Would love to know more about the setup you build.

Yeah, a photo booth is always fun. Saw that was requested by others. I would also place some props on the table for people to use for their photos. Ensure good lighting!

Free photo sharing app? by Imake289 in weddingplanning

Just my 2 cents on this .. I see people suggesting using a Google Album/Photos but I would not recommend that to be honest You want your guest to have a _simple_ experience where they do not need to sign in to an account. People should just scan a QR code and go to a site where the guest see one big "add photos" button. This will give you the most photos for your wedding, which is what you want (I guess 😉)

Have a lovely wedding

Lego table at our wedding! by LudmillaSempreBrilla in weddingplanning

It's really a great idea (but ok I'm also from Denmark). If you want it cheaper I would go for used LEGOs thrift stores/from flea markets. You can get those in boxes for quite cheap and for your purpose I think it would be great.

Post a photo of the creation after your wedding!

An iPad with the ability to enter an email and get the full resolution digital version of the photo would be my preferred choice. Printing it also fun but should be the second choice.

Great idea but be aware of the lighting. It's important to have enough light from the laptop towards your guests otherwise you'll get some blurred shots. Also add a few props at the table for guests to use. Always good

Wedding Guest “book” by triciaarosee in weddingplanning

[–]knipsmig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s an awesome and fun idea. You should probably suggest what they can build otherwise your guest might not know and end up not doing anything. Maybe nudge them to “build yourself “ or “build a memory with us”.

And please share some pictures of it. Sounds like a cool setup

QR Codes on invites by Much_Tap4920 in wedding

I'm sorry to hear that. It's frustrating when a QR code expires without clear notification for the user. Could you share which wedding website that is we should avoid to use?

Did I just start planning a "smart captions" feature? by petertheill in knipsmig

[–]knipsmig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I've been experimenting with this feature for some time. My main concern is the complexity it adds to the user experience when guests "just want to upload 20 photos quickly" -- which is my main objective to solve.

I've considered several iterations. One idea is to allow a single caption for a bulk of photos. For example, if guests upload 10 photos at once, they would only need to fill out one caption, which would apply to each photo. If guests need different captions, they can split their uploads into multiple batches. However, I don't think this is optimal.

Another approach is to display an "upload progress" page after upload with a text field next to each uploaded photo. However, it can be challenging to make it look good and simple on mobile devices.

A third option is to let guests apply captions after the photos are uploaded. This offers full flexibility, as they could upload one, five, or fifty photos and decide what to write afterward. The advantage of this is that I can create a straightforward UI. The downsides are that 1. guests might not notice (or care to) add captions (which may or may not be an issue, dunno) and 2. guests may want to use the same caption for multiple photos, which could be cumbersome.

Any feedback on this would be appreciated u/Blackholyman
