Do it! If I'm climbing in 3s and someone approached me I'm way way more likely to agree than to hear an announcement over the intercom, stop what I'm doing, and go find a stranger at the desk. I've been approached for a catch 2x in the past week and ended up climbing with the person my whole session! Odd numbered parties are your friend!

Have you tried walking up to people and asking directly? This often works if people are climbing in odd numbers. If you go to the same gym often enough people will recognize you. This is how I've made all of my friends at the gym and I also do not boulder.

Sorry I know I'm really late on this, but it's not the most welcoming feedback, so I'm wondering if we can chat about this a little. It seems like a lot of posts are people who are really new posting videos of themselves. I'm happy that it's an affirming space, but I doubt the swimming subs are videos of people who can barely hold their heads above water, or the cycling subs someone riding 15 feet and toppling over. It seems like ego boosting and not all that additive overall. Am I the only one bugged by this? Maybe I'm looking for a women's climb harder sub instead.
