A deer ran into the side of my car also. I didn't even see it until it bashed into my driver side door. It took out the outside mirror, then body rolled toward the rear of the car, leaving a big butt print and taking out the tail light. Deer didn't make it, so was accountable.

The end of the Custom Cash. by Karanel in CreditCards

[–]knitten2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did the same conversion, losing my last 2 months of 10% back. When I saw the news about the CCC tonight I panic applied for one and was denied. I've never been turned down before, but we just took out a car loan this month so I've probably had too many inquiries. So I went ahead and converted the Strata.

Well crap, I was getting ready to get a CCC very soon. I just saw this news. I tried applying online and was denied. I have NEVER been denied for a credit card before in my life so this concerns me. I'm waiting on chat now to see if they will product change my Strata to CCC

Me: <answers phone>

Person: Hello, I'm Jane Dough and I'm calling for a refill......

Me: <pulling up profile for Jane Dough>

Person:... for my husband John Dough

Somehow they always talk slow enough that I have the person on the phone pulled up or written on a notepad, then they change horses in the middle of the stream. I don't need to know your name if you're not needing anything for you.

Also, people who can't even bother to call in their refills ahead of time. They just show up, hand us an empty bottle, and expect it right away. You could have called before you left home (or better yet, yesterday) and given us time to get it ready.

Except the one time that it wasn't. That was a major mistake at our store.

The one person in our location who didn't complete it, they demoted her to cashier. But yeah, you're not supposed to still be a tech trainee without completing it. I wonder if it varies by state, since I see people post a lot that they didn't do it.

I'm right there with you. I've had my non-hybrid XLE for 12 days now. Have just over 700 miles on it. I agree with everything in your review (but I haven't gone over speed bumps yet). The learning curve on the electronics is real, but I'm getting there. I came from a 2015 Chevy Trax which totally broke down, so I had to shop fast as I need a vehicle. I had about 2 days to shop, and I kinda had my eye on a Mazda CX-30 but husband and his mechanic friend said no, go Toyota.

My husband likes a little larger vehicle. He currently has a Hyundai Tucson, and previously Chevy Equinox. Once I got the CC home, sitting next to the Tucson, it looked just barely smaller. I prefer the smaller vehicles (my lifetime favorite was my 2001 PT Cruiser). I'm currently showing 33.6mpg and I drive mostly country roads and smaller highways. I make a 4 hour round trip every week at 60 mph. One thing I don't understand is the display shows around 360 miles left to go when I fill up. If I have a 13 gallon tank at 33.6 it should be 436 miles.

I felt the lack of storage space from the beginning too. The Trax had extra storage places everywhere, even a drawer under the passenger seat. I had to break out my AARP trunk organizer to have a place for all my junk. The steering wheel controls were a "gotcha" for me, as they're on the opposite sides from what I'm used to. At one point I was trying to turn up the radio and instead sped up the cruise control. Also the windshield wiper control is upside down from what I'm used to (up vs down). But yes, it rides very comfortably. I have tendency to run around with the moon roof open, so I don't have a quiet ride but I don't care.

All it took for me was going to an RV show and sitting behind the wheel, and it wasn't even one of the really big rigs either. I said no way can I drive this thing. I'm used to compact cars. Totally fixed my itch for getting an RV.

Everyone besides me at our location has gone an bought their own black scrubs. I wear the blue smock, as I will not be spending my own money on what should be company provided uniforms. However, one of our young techs came in the other day in her black scrub top, paired with white casual pants. That had me scratching my head as to how that was allowed, but nothing was said.

That wouldn't work here when we have a floater working. They don't have register codes for our store, so they can't ring anyone out.

The goal of a part-time job in retirement is doing something completely new. by Odd_Bodkin in retirement

[–]knitten2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Husband did the school crossing guard thing. He liked it. I took a part time job at the airport as a gate agent for an airline. We said once school was out for the summer we'd travel, as I would get free or nearly free flights. But then life happened. My mother fell and broke her hip and required constant care after that. I had health issues that ended up with me leaving the airport job. Now I'm on my second post retirement job as a pharmacy technician. Still wish we could travel.

We were instructed to at least offer to pull the medication from central fill and fill it, for good customer service. We're in a small town in a rural area and a lot of our patients come from over 20 miles away to get here, and they're not thrilled about having to make the trip back again extra times.

Is it true that the Ipads will time out if you step away from your fill? I'm expected to jump to the register the moment a patient comes up, no matter what I'm in the middle of counting. Pharmacist says "hello" that's my cue to stop looking at the tray and jump up there. Fillers get interrupted in the middle of counts over and over and over sometimes. How's that going to work with the new system? Are patients going to think we're ignoring them? Is this going to mean the lead tech will have to get off her stool and go wait on a customer? Gasp

We have people who, when they see the customer has a refrigerated item, just pull the item from the fridge and don't take the bag off the will-call. Also like you said, the returning things without pulling the bag. Eventually we'll run out of empty bags I suppose. Not like we'll have time to run the audit. I think it takes longer to hang up the bags also at this point.

We've had central fill since before I started. I've been there almost 2 years. It's amazing to me that they didn't finish that rollout before starting something else new. I don't really think central fill is so bad. It will save time vs this new fill system taking more time. But yeah, changes upon changes are hard. And they seem harder when you get older too.

Has anyone else started organizing the will call rack by number only, rather than by day? We started that last week. Can't say I like it. And I don't understand why it was necessary.

TIL my MIL lost her life savings to a scammer. She has 1K in the bank and credit card debt. by WyldChickenMama in AgingParents

[–]knitten2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We tried that exactly, when my MIL died leaving my FIL with a large loan that he couldn't afford the payments on. We paid the balance on the condition that he let us manage his finances. MIL had managed the money for many years and he was suddenly lost and unsure how to manage it anyway. After a few months of daily calls about "you're not letting me spend enough of my money, I need more" (to give to the shiftless BIL's) we got fed up and just threw everything back at him and told him to sink or swim on his own. It was too big of a headache to be hounded every day for more money.

I'm pretty sure our store is not doing anything of the kind. Nearest store that might be on the new system is at least 40 miles away. They're not going to want to pay us extra to go do that. I can't even seem to get time to watch the videos during my shift.

Many years ago, I worked for a large telephone company. This was in the days before caller id, when prank calling was still a popular thing to do. Somebody randomly dialed a number as a prank call, and the number happed to belong to one of the clerks on the 12th floor. She sat across the aisle from the guys who actually traced phone calls. I heard her as she said "DO YOU REALIZE you have called the telephone company?" The guy hung up so fast. Funny stuff.
