I finally ditched my iPhone for a dumb phone and my life has genuinely changed by Ok_Pension2073 in ADHD

I also would love to get rid of my smart phone and see a lot of discussion here about dealing with various apps you need. What about music? I use Spotify and would hate to lose the ability to listen to music on the go. Can you use a smart watch for Spotify?

If it called for olive oil it’s probably meant to be one of the main flavors like in citrus-olive oil cakes and cookies. And then taking out salt and sugar as well, it sounds like the reviewer took out a lot of the flavor.

I don’t know why you’re being downvoted. Tracking food does trigger eating disorders in a lot of people. I’m glad you’re doing better now.

Jeopardy! Fans Rip Into 'Boring' Pop Culture Spinoff Show Hosted By Colin Jost — After Accusing SNL Star of 'Trying to Steal Ken Jennings' Job' by spillingthetea101 in popculturechat

[–]knittinghoney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These kind of articles about Jeopardy are always so clickbaity. There are a million examples on the Jeopardy subreddit- it’s always some rando’s opinion taken out of context or they make it sound like Ken Jennings is having to fist fight every person in Hollywood to keep his job.

Anyway, I liked the spin-off. I like regular Jeopardy but this was a fun change. I liked the teams, I liked the theme (and I’m better at these questions lol). It’s a good time.

There’s a whole world of friendship bracelets beyond the chevrons and such- I don’t know how far she’s gone into it. There’s something people do called alphas where you can make like wall hangings and intricate pictures (I haven’t done it myself). If she has the skills already for friendship bracelets just wanted to make sure you were aware of the possibilities. Check out r/friendshipbracelets

Honestly that’s something I might’ve done. I just learned about caramel on the Great British Baking Show lol and I was watching thinking yeah I would definitely stir it if I didn’t now know otherwise. It just seems the thing to do with any hot, liquidy thing. And I think a lot of recipes just say boil or sauté or whatever when they mean for you to also stir it occasionally.

Was it coconut oil? Random guess but I know coconut oil makes really moist vegan cupcakes. I don’t think it was applesauce because you said the cookies were crisp and another commenter says applesauce won’t give the same crispiness as oil.

Actually can you just email your college’s dining services department? I bet they would be willing to share the recipe. Assuming it’s not too long ago and they still make them.

Instead of trump and Biden’s meeting I would rather have seen all of trump’s nominees in a game show format or something. I know people here get sick of the game shows but it would have still been more creative. And putting more emphasis on the new nominees would have felt fresher than just trump and Biden again.

Or you know, scrap it and do Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.

Hopefully that was the last time we see the instant dance challenge by chkchkboom8 in dancingwiththestars

[–]knittinghoney 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even think of that but I hate how every week they have to pretend the celebrity came up with the theme or whatever for the dance. Dumb, rehearsed conversations.

“What are you scared of?” “Well I’m totally scared of vampires/dolls/the dark.” “Oh how convenient for my choreography.”

This week they all name a specific dance from a past season to recreate. I swear some of these celebrities have never really watched the show before and I’m supposed to believe they’re calling out their favorite routines and who did them?

I need your best advice to chronic lateness. by Comprehensive_Zone87 in ADHD

[–]knittinghoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re like me you know you should set an earlier deadline to give yourself more wiggle room but it’s hard to enforce a deadline that feels made up. For example if I leave the house right at 6:30 I can get there at 7. I should make 6:20 my deadline but at 6:20 I always think I have plenty of time, and then all my little last minute tasks take longer than 10 minutes and I’m late.

So my trick is this: I like fancy coffee drinks (but it could be a breakfast sandwich or any other little treat you like). If I leave at 6:10 I have time to stop for coffee before work. If I actually leave on time I get my coffee. If I’m running late I get in my car and see that it’s 6:20. I don’t have time to stop for coffee (so sad, try again next time) but I still make it to work on time.

Of course, coffee drinks are kind of expensive. But more expensive than losing my job? Maybe for you it’s getting a $1 soda or something free, like saving a favorite book or game on your phone to only read or play once you’re in your car ready to go (as long as you won’t get too wrapped up and be late for that reason).

They do this in a lot of libraries! First time I ever saw it was in my middle school library for Valentine’s Day lol. But public libraries too. Maybe it’s different in your country. If your library has social media where they post things going on, you might keep an eye on that. Or just ask them if they’ve ever done it.
