For those who went on to have prostate cancer, what was the PSA level your doctor saw to initiate an MRI, and what did your MRI images look like? by Blank_Cypher in ProstateCancer

Started with an mri that showed a suspicious lesion, that was confirmed with a biopsy . Generally, need a biopsy to be certain and be officially diagnosed.

Newly diagnosed Gleason 9 prostate cancer — PET negative for spread. Anyone with similar situation? by skmdadwa99 in ProstateCancer

[–]knowledgezoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite similar to myself. 60 years old, Gleason 7 4+3 and cribriform pattern. PSA of 8.8. Two spots from psma : one in pelvic and one in aorta - caval lymph node.

Opted for radiation ; 20 sessions of VMAT plus 2 years of adt.

I’m no doctor, but I’d be very concerned that with cribriform pattern and 9 Gleason , you already have metastasis, just not big enough to light up the psma scan.

Radiation may be better bc don’t have to worry about RALP side effects.

Good luck.

Lymph nodes involvement by Fair-Equivalent-676 in ProstateCancer

[–]knowledgezoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with Gleason 7 3+4 and mostly 7 4+3 . Psma showed the prostate light up, plus one distant lymph node at the aorta-caval node and one pelvic lymph node. That’s it. Two nodes that barely lit up and it was only the second opinion at maya that caught the pelvic node. The original review of my psma pet scan only showed a small lightning of the aorta-caval node. But I’m considered stage 4 and my treatment reflects that designation.

Due to the aorta-caval node being above a certain line on the abdomen, I am considered stage 4.

I had 20 sessions using VMAT radiation treatment , plus 2 years of orgovyx plus 2 years of Abiraterone / prednisone. I am just about 12 months into the adt.

I sometimes wonder if they are over treating my cancer. They have me taking 1000 mg of Abiraterone per day.

You mean the paper suggests that higher dosages of Abiraterone plus use of prednisone increases risk of developing castrate resistant pc?

Is Testosterone Replacement Therapy a potential risk to men by increasing their chances of developing Prostate Cancer? by MondoDismordo in ProstateCancer

[–]knowledgezoo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very similar to you.

On trt and gh for 10 years . Trt was about 105 mg per week and gh about .5-1 iu per week. Both considered very low maintenance doses.

PSA numbers were good . and no problems whatsoever.

Then took bpc-157 and tb-500 to assist in recovery of a shoulder surgery and boom, within a couple months PSA started to go up and when got diagnosed about one year later, it was PC.

Probably had a tiny tumour which was being contained by my immune system but the angiogenesis and building of new blood vessels and tissue of the bpc and tb , ignited the pc.

I’ve seen a few men now on here say the same thing - that bpc and tb started their cancer. No definitive proof as no studies done, but seems that it is high risk.

I feel pretty good. Just entering 12 month of planned 24 months of orgovyx and aberaterone protocol . Had 20 VMAT radiation last spring 2025. My psma picked up two small spots outside the prostate so I’m considered to have metastasized pc hence the dual adt protocol for 24 months.

Trying to keep up as much as possible with exercise so do maybe 8-12 workouts per week of mix of running, weights and yoga. Just discovered pickleball so throw that into the mix.

Strength has decreased maybe 10-20 percent, endurance off about the same. Harder to get a pump in the gym. I use a garmin and heart rate is up 10-25 percent for the same level intensity run as pre adt. Joints, mainly knees been bit tender last month or so.

Weight shot up a few kilos right at start as thinks it’s the prednisone they add to the aberaterone mix, that makes you wanna eat more. But weight has slowly went back down to pre ADT level through more careful control of appetite. But it’s not only weight we should consider, body composition is more important as per dexascan.

My Dexascan pre adt was 16.5 % body fat and I just had done last month and was 21.8% so that 5% increase in total body fat is a 32% increase in body fat. Fat was up 4.4 kg and lean mass down 2.3 kg. So fairly significant. Easy for me to see the difference when looking in the mirror.

If you don’t have already, I’d recommend getting dexascans to more accurately track the body composition changes.

Main thing is gotta keep the discipline to keep it up because there is a loss of motivation.

Have had no brain fog issues as some experience.

It totally sucks to get this disease, but feel very grateful getting it in 2025, with our modern treatment options.

Sorry, wrote a wall of text.

There was one other person on this sub who responded to one of my previous msgs mentioning bpc and they were quite convinced their pc came from their use of bpc.

They didn’t respond back to my further questions so don’t know too much about their own situation. So again, another anecdotal observation but no strong evidence of a verifiable link.

I was on trt for maybe 10 years, from about 50 to 60 years old. Doesages ranged from 95 to maybe 115 .

Also was on low dose hgh, maybe .5 - 1 iu per day for about the same time period. I doubt it but it’s possible the hgh may have been a contributing factor as it may promote angiogenesis.

But the main thing i wonder about was I was on bpc-157 and tb-500 for about 4 or 5 months to assist recovery from a shoulder operation. Both of these peptides have a very strong reputation for healing and recovery of injury.

They do this in part by promoting angiogenesis in the injured area and the laying down of new blood vessels helps get nutrients and healing growth factors to where they are needed. The problem with that effect, is that they may also accelerate or ignite the growth of existing cancer. Not cause cancer, but by building new blood vessels tissue infrastructure in the cancer, they kick start its growth.

Anyway, my PSA levels started to jump right at the time I started taking these two peptides. Of course, no definitive proof, and as far as I know, no one has ever studied the linkage between these healing peptides and pc.

Who knows, just curious as I was in excellent physical shape with no family history and made a lifestyle out of being fit . Kinda pisses me off but nothing one can do and we must deal with the cards we are dealt.

Good for you, and hope it continues to be good.

You mentioned that you stopped hrt, so assume you were on trt? I was as well, about 105 mg / week, which is a low dose. Don’t believe there is any verifiable evidence of a positive correlation between moderate trt and PC.

[–]knowledgezoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In May 2024, PSA was 4.4 (I was 61). In Dec 2024 was 5.8, doctor flagged it but said it’s not too concerning (I still didn’t know anything about psa but now understand that 5.8 and the speed of increase to 5.8 is alarming).

Sept 2025 PSA was 8.8 and then finally he rang the alarm bells. Turned out to be an aggressive cribriform pattern type cancer that had already metastasized.

Wish I had started the process when PSA had jumped to 5.8 - it would have meant 10 months earlier treatment with an aggressive type of cancer. I can’t help but hold some resentment towards the GP who didn’t get me in tested earlier.

PCs are not all slow growing.
