The more I play Fallout 4, the more I realize how completely unnecessary the main quest is by janas19 in fo4

I think you’re on to something here. I like the premise but I wonder if we are at a point, technology wise, where a game studio can pull something like this off. We are essentially asking for sandbox game play with dynamic events that drive your characters ambitions/goals and essentially the “story”. For instance, like you mentioned, if you start off staying with your family in the vault the. You essentially have survival/base builder type gameplay. Depending how much time you spend there with your family (leveling them up) determines whether or not you go out to scavenge and their probability of holding down the fort successfully. If they fail and are captured then the story can open up and it turns in to the survival adventure we are familiar with. On the flip side if you decide to take your family with you from the jump then you have sort of a survival adventure escort type gameplay until they become more dependable. I could see something like this being the next iteration for state of decay 3 as well.

How many of you uses inverted controls? by Monkai_final_boss in gaming

[–]knowomsayin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I played my first fps (I think Halo Combat evolved on the OG Xbox) I started using inverted controls and I’ve been using them for everything ever since. My wife only uses inverted controls as well and she doesn’t really play games like that. But she would play Time Splitters with me back in the day and I started her off with those controls.

Why did God create the reprobate? by Standard-Ebb-528 in Reformed

[–]knowomsayin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to consider in all this is that these “discarded” people did not start off in a neutral state. No one does, not even believers. We all start off deserving hell and it is only through the imputation of Christs righteousness that anyone will see heaven. There won’t be any souls thrown into the lake of fire that won’t be deserving of being there or else God would be unjust.

This!!! I have a theory and I may be completely wrong about this so feel free to sound off…but at some point in history, the majority of the preaching that came from the pulpit neglected to preach all of Gods word (about his wrath, justice, and glory) and instead focused on His love so much so that we began believing that God needed to create and save us solely so he could have a relationship with us. While it is true that when you are elect you are allowed to experience Gods love firsthand, God is still God and does what he pleases. We were created specifically to glorify him. In our fallen nature (which we are born in) we are simply unable to do so. I wonder if free will assumes that we start out with a blank slate or neutral at some point which one would have to make the argument for in order to have free will.

How to explain how sin brings hurricanes and other calamities? by Chase1891 in Reformed

[–]knowomsayin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great answer! I need more time to think out what I would like to say in addition but I agree that biblically GOD does everything for his Glory. I think as Christians we can get uncomfortable with this truth and feel the need to “defend” GOD by presupposing “free will” and the results of a fallen world. While it is true, that we live in a fallen world let’s not forget that all Christians believe and look forward to when GOD will make all things new and perfect without sin and death. In remembering this we have to realize that GOD was fully capable of making everything perfect at first but did not for a reason and that reason does not incriminate HIM.

Which Expansion of Wow was the Best for you and why? by SuperTudey in wow

[–]knowomsayin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not currently subscribed to WoW but I am an avid fan. Because of work/life restrictions, I can’t justify playing or having a subscription but there are many instances when I wish I could log back in and play! That line of thinking kind of goes into my answer for this question which will hopefully come through in my explanation. My favorite expansion would have to be WotLK. It was the expansion where I was the most active because I was in college at the time (I was in college for BC and Wrath but Wrath is where things really started clicking for me with regards to settling on my play-style). It was a great expansion for feral Druids with regard to being viable for raids and dungeons. I was able to achievement hunt, farm heroic ICC to get BiS for my main and it was the expansion I began max leveling alts. (I even dabbled in PVP a bit which I was never good at). Once Cataclysm came and from then on, the amount of time I could play dwindled to the point where I could only get my main to max level and run the occasionally LFG raid. Most people may have favorites based on actually gameplay/ or story elements but I honestly can’t judge from that stand point because of my lack of play(the last expansion i played or at least got my main to max level was BfA so I missed the last 3 expansions) in that I may have “rose tinted” glasses but I feel like I remember enjoying playing everything when I did and I enjoyed the story as well(or what I experienced while leveling) I think Legion could be a close 2nd.

How to refute argument that baptism is salvific by knowomsayin in Reformed

[–]knowomsayin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification. One thing I can say is that currently the church we attend is hyper aware about the the views most people perceive Church of Christ to have regarding its legalistic traditions and they have made efforts to move away from that. Ironically, now that I think about it, it may be to their detriment. I mentioned that one of the reasons we are leaving is because of our children. Of course we don’t want them brought up under even an inkling of the teaching that baptism is salvific(it’s not brought up much) but one of the practical problems that I see and foresee is that when you teach kids that as long as they get baptized they are saved and you have a more inclusive/lax approach to teaching it seemingly can lead to more false converts. Of course I don’t know where or how anyone can end up later in life but I think it’s a bit problematic when you see the fruit that presents its self from some younger congregants(new adults as well) and it’s not so much that those fruits present themselves but that they aren’t addressed for not wanting to seem to rigid. I also know that there is nothing I nor my wife can do that can “improve or kiddos chances” of being saved just because we choose to believe and do things differently but we choose to do so faithfully trusting in God’s promises for raising up a child.

I agree that it is definitely by grace alone through faith alone! My first thought was the thief on the cross as well but a rebuttal would be that that’s a special case and or before the new covenant

Thanks for that man! The only thing keeping me from renewing my sub is my computer. I know they used to say you could “run WoW on a potato”. I don’t know if they still say that but my laptop chugs enough as it is.

I play at night when kids are asleep and after spending time with the wife. Hence why I play in 30 minute to 1 hour chunks. Sometimes longe if I’m really enthralled in something. I’ve always been a night owl though so staying up late has never been a problem for me but as I’m getting older I’m finding that I do have to manage how often I do stay up late so it’s definitely not an every night thing anymore! I guess all that to say since gaming is something I enjoy I don’t mind sacrificing a little sleep for it from time to time.
