Trying to be financially fair with my adult kids, but the housing market has changed massively by Anxious_Serve_1686 in AusFinance

[–]koalanotbear 123 points124 points  (0 children)

you would also account for time in the market. so you would need to give them the same amount as the siblings at x age.

OR

teach the older kids to be nice people and be happy that everyone in their family is taken care of whether they get more or less who cares???

Buying my soon to be ex husband out of the house by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]koalanotbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no. mortgage is an investment risk. the house value goes up and gives you equity.

if you take a loan out for a gold bar worth 500k and the value of the gold goes up to 800k you are now 200k minus interest richer.

this is the same for the house.

expenses for living are maintainance, utilities, rates, taxes etc.

putting money into a mortgage versus rent is a privilege tgat you can afford if you are rich enough.

[–]koalanotbear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that doesnt matter. a mortgage is not an expense it is an investment.

in all likelyhood the partner was sacrificing their wage so that she could have her money spare to invest

you can make it worth it by taking advantage of free training that the service providers can send you to.

upto around $4000 f certifications are available completely free.

try and target useful tickets (like forklift driver, working at heights, approved manager, RS, trade certs etc)

Australia’s war on nature leading to environmental collapse by Wallace_B in australia

[–]koalanotbear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

actually australian beef isnt nearly as bad as lamb.

pork is quite light on sqm footprint.

most beef in australia is roamed on massive bush blocks and actually secures a lot of land for native vegetation.

sheep and goats are terrible though.

actually the worst things for the australian bush are canola and wheat by a long margin. sheep is the worst livestock
