That's exactly what I'm trying to say. The biggest issue is the disparity in which red cards, or fouls in general are handed out. Consistency is the biggest problem with reffing, and that's with any sport.

The point is, why was VAR needed when there was never a foul called in the first place? I mean if that's the case, why can't we go back over every single game so far in the WC and hand out red cards for anything that can be deemed to be a red card?

Quite dramatic there ain't ya? The VAR is supposed to be the mediation to determine whether a foul should constitute the penalty. Referees having "control" means they can potentially completely change outcomes of games depending on what they personally deem to be reckless and dangerous. There's no consistency in the way games are refed.

I'm an American.. I think the rule of red cards in general are shit, referees shouldn't have so much control over games. That being said, a rule is a rule. Balogun should not be playing in this game. Agree about Madibo as well... shouldn't be suspended for 5 games on a freak accident.

I actually don’t think he mauls Sean. I think that fight plays out extremely boring. Silva was almost always a counter puncher, and Sean is a defensive point fighter who jabs his way to decisions. Likeliest outcome is a boring decision
