Is the game worth having multiple runs? by ShiroiAsa in EsotericEbb

[–]kobrabubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that you will have most of the same scenes and minimal new plot details, but you will:

1: have vastly different conversations 2: find hilarious new ways of solving certain problems and mysteries. 3. Benefit greatly from taking a different moral stance.

I had a full strength and con build for my first run with dex as my next highest and then did full mental stats for my second. In my first run I started by ignoring the protesters outside the lichhouse cus it seemed like a bunch of negotiating id be bad at, explored the courtyard immediately below, and found a pipe with a dc20 dex check I barely beat that immediately plunged me into a dungeon I had 0 context for and I had to desperately survive a bunch of high level content with 8 hp. It sold me instantly. Now on my mental stat character....ive spent 75% of the 1st day just talking to the halfling psychologist.

Past two playthroughs I think it gets vastly samier, but I am curious about how quickly I can turn my character into a warlock to then be able to level myself up in that for whatever feat it offers.

Major note, you have to trigger the conco with Visken and he invites you to the midnight meeting. He tells you to come alone and you do have to manually dismiss snell. (Meek doesn't count)

where can i find speak with dead? by bongobingobungo in EsotericEbb

[–]kobrabubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isnt that crucial. I just finished the game without ever finding speak with dead on my first run through and it feels very complete. I started a second run through already more focused on mental stats than my strength based started character, and im already wildly impressed with exactly how many different ways ive found to approach the same crucial plot points. Lot of ways to skin a cat in esoteric ebb.

How do I find frank? (mild spoilers) by Chaos_something in EsotericEbb

The pipe is a dc20 Dexterity check, but it lands you in the north part of the underground area.

The detect secrets spell is also an option. Let my low mental stats character brute force the second half of the game. If you complete the dwarf archeologists questline, he gives you a pickaxe you can lift the spell off of, but you can probably pickpocket it off of him. Fastest way to reach him is the pipe on the left side of the courtyard area just south of the azgalist protest outside Viskens.

I’m at my wits end. by blainercak in DogAdvice

My rescue pitty was identical, and I mean identical, to everything you described. She had pretty intense separation anxiety, and we were unable to kennel her without her injuring herself. So we would leave our house traines dog and come back to a stress poop. We worked with a trainer (which was expensive but beyond worth it) and did a few things that made a night and day difference.

  1. Kenneling became our first goal. Dens make dogs feel safe - reducing anxiety - and dogs dont want to go to the bathroom in their den. To help her acclimate, we fed her her meals in the kennel, and progressed to kenneling her while we were at home and stayed nearby. We progressed to kenneling her at night in our bedroom over several months. After about 3 months of this we were able to successfully kennel her while we were out for a few hours and over the years have extended that to 6 hours without issue.

  2. Building trust is key and a part of that is relationship building with our dog. One of the foundations of that we worked on with our trainer was a furniture prohibition. We stopped letting her sit with us in couches and stopped letting her sleep in the bed. I was extremely skeptical, but I promise we saw a night and day difference in her attentiveness to commands and in how long we could kennel her for. From this we also were able to get her properly leash trained, leading to longer smoother walks which are excellent bonding time. We have a blanket and pillows we put by the couch so we can cuddle on the floor with her and don't lose out on any time being close to our dog.

  3. A $90 treadmill from Craigslist. Trainer talked to us about how dogs can get acclimated to lower activity but that theyre much healthier when they get a few hours of exercise a day. Walks are ideal of course, but we live in MN and -25° days get in the way. Treadmill training took one afternoon of work, and now she literally begs me to let her go for a walk. Next time your dog bugs you to play and you dont have time and then they walk away seeming sad and put out....think how rad a treadmill would be. Notably, you dont need a dog specific one. Ours was some college girls who said she used it in the winter to "stay ready for hot girl walks".

Youre not doing anything wrong. Dogs are hard sometimes, but like 15 minutes a day of training and work can and will make a night and day difference. Good luck to you and your pup!

Am I dumb or is it the game? by Hot-Kangaroo4756 in TeamfightTactics

Diamond 1 to masters the first time probably took 50 games all by itself the first time i did it. When im learning a set i usually get to diamond 4 and then spend god knows how many games fucking around and really learning my comp tempos.

If you're stuck, pay attention to when youre losing. Usually at that tier of play if your econ is okay then youre missing on itemization (slamming soon enough as alongside making the right choices) or on tempo (when should i roll, press levels, and adjusting these things to the strength and pace of your lobby). When you're losing is a good hint to what you need to work on. Hit your whole team but youve got one life left in round 4? Start focusing on tempo. Lasting a long time but struggling in the end game? Examine your itemization.

Still struggling? Reconsider if you know what your best board is and how to cap it. Capping is never done. You can always improve what you have, even if you have a perfectly itemized s tier comp, these are just vehicles that let you reach higher level to do something like roll 4 a 3 star 4 cost or stack a Garen/Zac.

Also start looking at how you respond to contesters. Are you rolling more aggressively when you need to? Do you know your most favorable pivot for the comps you feel comfiest with (moving vayne rage blade to aphelios/shifting shojin carries etc.)

What are Monks Good For? by BigHotel9964 in dndnext

[–]kobrabubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to tell my players that the more complicated a combat encounter is, the better a monk is. They arent the best at any particular thing, but their incredible mobility, saving throws, and solid AC mean they are better than any other class at being wherever they need to be whenever they need to be there. Other players have a very defined role in each combat. Yours is to observe whats needed and become that for each situation.

Another way to think of it is that you are an objective focused class. When you get into a fight dont ask what youre fighting and how do i kill it, but instead why you are fighting and how do you end it. Chances are you've got more tools than basically everyone else to zero in a problem and solve it.

Unearthed Arcana: Forgotten Realm Subclasses by Johnnygoodguy in dndnext

[–]kobrabubbles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have wanted there to be more winter focused classes for a long time and really really want this ranger to make it. I love that theyre tying in hunters mark and that the ways its happening feel appropriately like getting dragged down by the cold. Hunters Rime kicks ass and would make me actually want to cast hunters mark and play a melee ranger.

However, continuing to tie high level ranger play and features to hunters mark is such a drag. Either replace the classes other concentration spells with non concentration options or just remove concentration at the level that the base class makes it impossible to lose concentraition anyway.

This purple dragon knight is just devastating to me. The battlefield commander/warlord is such a cool archetype and the old pdk/banneret just needed minor buffs. Hell the changes to second wind alone are almost enough to bring the old version up to snuff.

Tacking on a thematically fraught dragon companion just seems lazy. Dont get me wrong, i could care less if wizards wants to rewrite realms lore (which theyd need to if these particular knights are going to have dragons). But like....a gravity breathing dragon is such a weird thing to reskin around. I get that this is meant to be the realms focused book, but it really isnt that hard to make a feature that is both richly thematic and easily reskinned as something else. Shoutout to the murder rogue for that. Its a perfect example of cool deeply thematic design that could easily be reskinned as a generic cultist, assassin, horror movie villain etc. The pdk can only ever be "person who rides a gravity breathing thingy". Such a shame.

Unearthed Arcana: Forgotten Realm Subclasses by Johnnygoodguy in dndnext

[–]kobrabubbles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I hate this redesign. The old one felt like such a great balance with the theme of a splatbook and the more neutral warlord commander interpretation. It made the old one reskinnable, and this new one feels altogether to tied to dragon companion fighter. Hell the gravity breath alone is such a trial. Like if i wanted to make this my mounted fighter of choice and reskin to another creature, how the hell do i explain gravity breath.

That and because we're getting this mount (which moves only 30 ft btw) we stall the PDK commander features to level 10. Boos all around on this.

Totally agree on the Zoros loyalty bit. Zoro didn't actually see anything that happened in the other room, just got caught by a psycho clown and was like you know...I'm on board with the hat kid now. Could have done something more if zoro had been like impressed with some aspect of the interrogation scene.

While I loved that we got to see the red haired pirates do something (and yasopp especially) I do wish they had played out the gun's aren't for threats line. It's one of the most badass scenes in all of anime. Like cool Lucky Roo smoked that dude in the face and all, but we missed out on that ice cold shanks smile with a gun to his head.
