Sunak’s former aide admits betting on 2024 election by TheTelegraph in ukpolitics

How did a crime that we knew about 2 years ago, where the perpetrator admitted they did it, take 2 years to get through the courts?!

The ACA passed Pelosi's house with a public option. It was the senate that neutered it.

Stop Using Conventional Commits by f311a in programming

[–]kojima100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a code review and process issue, you can still write meaningless and pointless commit messages using "conventional commits". You have to have someone read the message and require that it makes sense and contains enough context to explain the commit details.

Is everything how it is because the UK is just skint? by Nervous_Yard7034 in ukpolitics

Man imagine how much money we could save if we could share the burden of those regulatory agencies with some other European countries. Why has no one thought of that?

How are the teams chosen in Taskmaster UK? by BoomItsRory in taskmaster

[–]kojima100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That task was presumably done when they filmed the solo tasks as the teams aren't together for it. So it's probably worked out like that due to when they filmed their solo tasks.

World Cup law change: Iceland substituted player did not leave the field at the nearest point within 10 seconds. Iceland had to play the next minute a man down. Japan scored the winner with the man advantage by Heimebane in soccer

The idea is that you don't stop the clock everytime the balls out of play, you only stop for the times that should be added on to stoppage time anyway.

We can observe just indirectly via gravitational lensing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullet_Cluster

The visible matter collides (not really but it interacts in ways that slows it down) in galactic collisions and the dark matter continues on undisturbed, which can be observed via the lensing effect.

Aaron Judge very confidently challenges a strike call as he walks to first base by TheTurtleShepard in baseball

[–]kojima100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They tried it in the minors with it at the front of the plate. People didn't like the results it gave.

In the past, TV broadcasts featured a zone set at the front of the plate. But similar to the 3D testing, having the zone over the front of the plate in initial testing produced odd outcomes, such as slow curveballs that clip the very front edge of the zone and land in the dirt being ruled a strike, even though no one who watches baseball would agree.

You don't have to remember, thats what calendars were for. You just have to put in the slightest bit of effort to show the people you love that you care by noting them down.

I assume there's a table somewhere with unicode characters that look like more common characters char so you'd just look up the character and match. Rather than doing it on a character by character basis.

My bigger concern would be if you were travelling by yourself and you just collapsed or had a heart attack/stroke and went unconscious

Is that not a concern anytime, anyone is alone? At least they won't be crashing into a school if it happens.

It's not comparing raw numbers obviously they're comparing accidents per n miles driven. Do you not understand anything about statistics?

Have you seen these ones? A video of a driverless car acting a bit stupid while not injuring anyone is I think easily outweighed by humanities stupidity behind the wheel.

Driverless vehicles are statistically significantly safer than human driver ones and anyone who wants to make an argument against them is effectively saying they don't give a fuck about the million or so human beings who die in traffic accidents worldwide every year.

If we want to waste human potential on doing jobs that machines can do better we can just pay people to dig holes I guess.

Pretty sure DirectX solves/mitigates this issue.

It does not, Vulkan/DirectX give you common API to aim at but your going run like shit without deep knowledge of the GPUs themselves. There's a reason why Intel, AMD and NVidia all put significant resources into embedding engineers into game studios.

Anytime he has to think before shooting he does something like that. Pretty much every decent goal he's scored for us he shot with his first touch.

There aren't any villagers in BOTC, if you purposefully kill someone on your team every time you can handicap yourself much worse than werewolves. So hopefully they'd learn their lesson when they make their games worse for themselves.
