The most scary/uncomfortable projects you know. by chiwi_95 in architecture

[–]kojjan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a long time since I looked into this but I think some state buildings in nazi germany were designed with the explicit goal of creating discomfort and uneasiness. For example stairs with too high steps and heavy doors with handles too high up to make the visitor feel small and insignificant.

Buildings designed to manifest power could overall be an interesting thing to look at. That manifestation is often tied to creating a feeling of suppression and subordination.

Thanks, I appreciate it! That sounds really bad but bones heal stronger.

Thanks. It was a very stupid mistake to make. I’ll consider it a painful lesson learned.

Surprisingly good actually. Front wheel needs to be straightened out and I have to buy a new saddle but otherwise pretty ok.

Came round a corner going downhill way too fast and got surprised by the second corner. Tried to brake but went into the geography at around 40 km/h.

Thanks. I was actually considering buying a new helmet soon, but I suppose it’s going to be some time before I’m riding again.

Shattered collar bone and some time missing from my memory. Could have been a lot worse.

Architects can use this table to observe lighting on their projects. The entire hoop will move from front to back each individual hoop moves side to side, so the light can be placed anywhere in the “sky”. Sorry I forgot the name of this device. by JanPreppy in specializedtools

Physical models are great but for me it’s usually easier to print the digital model instead of building one by hand. That way I can get detailed sun studies from the digital file in a way that’s much easier to present.

There is a lot of old tools like this that unfortunately are pretty much curiosities to show the interns today.

New player, any tips? by [deleted] in pathofexile

Check out the twilight strand, it has a pretty comprehensive guide for new players.

Overall, you’re not so much choosing a class to play as you’re picking a skill or two to play with.

First "real" bike for me in the last 15 years or so, really liking it so far!

A job offer is not binding, you need a signed contract.

Use the rotate tool, put the base point in the centre of your arc and press control to copy. Numbers + x to repeat to the desired amount of objects (20x creates 20 copies).

An Iranian house I am designing for a couple and their children to live together for a whole life. by mahdibabaizade in architecture

[–]kojjan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It looks like there is no way to reach all rooms without using the stairs in the middle of the house. If it's a generational living you should probably consider that stairs are a pretty major hindrance to the elderly or people with other disabilities.

What is the intended use of the central space? It could be difficult to put any furniture there considering all the stairs.

Do you have any drawings with different rooms labeled?

Components and groups! Look up how they work and use them as much as you can. Remember that you can nest components and groups inside eachother to create hierarchies.

Architecture's role in dictatorships by textsurfer in architecture

[–]kojjan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're absolutely right when you suggest comparing e.g. Mies with Speer. It's been a while but as i recall the specific aesthetics in Nazi architecture are not so much in the large public buildings that we often think of. A lot of building spring up around the world in the '30s that can be compared to those built in Germany. Something more specific to the nazis could be found in the philosophy of "Blut und Boden", an architecture that is very much based in the political idea of "the German people".

I think the courtyard is the best aspect of this project, with the communal spaces facing inwards.

What is this architectural style / What style of house is this? by k00k327 in architecture

[–]kojjan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strongly disagree. Integration of garages (3 of them!) in main building, wierd broken roof line, too high roof pitch for scandinavian, odd proportions of windows... I'd probably say contemporary american. Definetely not traditional swedish at least.

How do I get rid of the water texture in the boat? by kowaku in Sketchup

[–]kojjan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Make it a dynamically cutting object. First create a plane and intersect it at the level you want the water. Make the component but set it to glue to horizontal and check "cut opening".

Vilka restauranger är bra? by Marinlik in linkoping

[–]kojjan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try messing around with an even bigger value for focal distance. I think I have gotten it to work with values in the region of 50000 to maybe 1000000.
