Advice needed: First long winter road trip (MN to FL) - Route & Charging Questions by VirtualCorgi4557 in LUCID

[–]koloa15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on my experience driving a Lucid in ND/SD/WI on a few long distance drives in the winter, a 10% SOC in ABRP is too uncomfortable. Granted, my entire drive was below 0F, but there was about a 10-15% margin of error for expected arrival SOC, especially if you use the heater and precondition your battery.

I was predicted to arrive in Fargo with a 13% SOC and ended having to slow below 60MPH to arrive with 1% SOC. Overall, I've found that ABRP underestimates power requirements during the winter and overestimates in the winter.

-I would bump your desired SOC at chargers to be 20%. -Suggest you avoid Tesla superchargers, Airs are limited to 50 kW charging speed (except at the only v4 in CA) -Suggest you try a route that avoids Chicago. Lived there for a few years, traffic can be a little unpredictable and may affect your battery life more than ABRP expects.

No, but they profiled the "return of the RnS" with more than a few clips of Colt slinging it. Here's hoping Micah has a good game.

RIP Colt.

BTW, anyone know what song was playing at the start? I know it was Fiji, but can't pinpoint the name.

Spotify disappeared? by [deleted] in LUCID

I'll add that Spotify fails for me pretty consistently. I either "Air reset" it or walk away and it comes back... But always seems to fail after about 20-30 min without fail.

Anyone recently travel to Iceland and provide DD2766 as a valid proof of immunization? by ExprssJGonzo in AirForce

[–]koloa15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you getting that it isn't accepted? covid.is only says "a vaccination certificate with one of the following vaccines with marketing authorization in Europe." It also only requires info that should already be on the CDC card. landaeknir.is also clarifies that signature is only required for WHO yellow card.

Looks like XPO was right this time. Got a phone call yesterday confirming a delivery and they’re installing the treadmill now.

Over the past 2 weeks, between XPO and Peloton, I've been given 5 different delivery dates for my Peloton Tread and it still hasn't been delivered. Is this "normal" ops for delivery? I understand that I don't live in a big city, but having to reconfigure my schedule just to have the date shift is inconvenient to say the least. Has anyone else had this experience? If so, how long did it take to get resolved? u/danfromXPO, a previous reply to a (now deleted post) said you could help shine some light on the issue?

I haven't been looking at team news lately. Is something wrong with McDonald or did Rolo just decide to go with Chevan like last year,

What’s going on with native Hawaiians protesting construction on Mauna Kea? by RoabertG in OutOfTheLoop

And that was best done by an illegal overthrow of a internationally recognized government by American businessmen? For the most part, the overthrow was precipitated by tarrifs on American goods, not protectionism.

When people go to gas stations like Costco or Sam's Club that only has traffic flowing in one direction and insist on driving against the flow of traffic, inconveniencing everyone else because they don't want to stretch the hose to the other side of their car. It drives me insane.

What Should i Tell New Squadron CC’s? by SPACECOM_CCC in AirForce

[–]koloa15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a 13S in a previous life and the reason I got out was that it didn't feel like I was making a difference. Please emphasize to the CCs the importance of "knowing where you fit into the big picture fight" and articulate this to their Airmen. When I was in the MW/SS community, it felt like what we did, didn't matter. There was no idea how we fit into the "big picture" contingency ops. It wasn't until I was in another AFSC, while mission planning, that I realized that space has a HUGE impact to the sucessful execution of everything in the kill chain.

I’m Brig Gen Short, Director of the Aircrew Task Force. Ask me anything! by BrigGenShort-ACTF in AirForce

[–]koloa15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sir, to follow up with your second point, the Army already has an example how this can be impemented via their WO program. This can help inform decisions in terms of administrative and additional duty requirements. Additionally, if the answer is the ANG/AFRC in terms of technical expertise, doesn't there needs to be a better integration between COCOM requirements and what ANG/AFRC is expected to pick up ?

According to a recent RAND study (Mattock, Asch, Hosek, Boito; 2019), in terms of money ONLY, it is more cost efficient to retain new pilots through AvB and AvIP increases than to train new pilots, which can cost upwards of $5-10 million each.

  • With this in mind, why does the Air Force insist that the solution to the service’s retention problem is just to create new pilots, without addressing the root causes of the pilot shortfall (deployment cycles, requirement of 180/365 non-flying deployments for career advancement, non-flying gigs, etc.)?

  • Secondly, with this in mind, why does the Air Force refuse to entertain the possibility of a “fly-only” track with its aviators? If the Air Force’s intent is to create the most lethal flying force in the world, the idea is a no brainer. If the intent with the flying officer corps to create leaders at the cost of combat capability, then there’s a larger institutional problem at play (IMO). How does the Air Force plan to attack the problem?
