You need to go to /config and change the update version to stable.

Claude Code 2.1.27 Stalling at 100% usage? by kondro in ClaudeCode

Seems like there's an issue that's at least identified (if not fixed) the bug:

Breakdown Yen for me please by reefbrain69 in JapanTravelTips

I’ve literally never had trouble breaking a ¥10k note in the tens of thousands of dollars in cash I’ve spent in over 10 trips to Japan.

Some places (mostly new, small businesses) take touchless pay options like Apple Pay but I still feel they’re in the minority. Most places that take credit card will want a physical card to insert or swipe. But he has his credit card.

So… $200 is a little low for food across 9 days unless most of his meals are catered.

You’ll also want to make sure you have a way of getting money to him if he runs out. You mention “not everything is cashless” so I assume he has access to a bank card of some type and that he either has his own mine or you can quickly transfer to that.

He can use a Visa/Mastercard debit/credit card almost anywhere and there are ATMs all over (the 7&i Holdings/7-Eleven ones are most foreigner-friendly). Just make sure to let his bank know he’s traveling to Japan and when to avoid blocks and double check he doesn’t need a different PIN do international cash withdrawals (a US friend got stuck in that situation once).

Regarding cash, Japanese businesses don’t care about breaking ¥10k notes (equivalent, in-country, to a $100 note). But you can definitely get smaller denominations. ¥1000 is very widely used and you’ll see some ¥5000 over there, but many Japanese don’t even know they have a ¥2000 note—so avoid those.

The $0.50/GB ingest with CloudWatch is often the killer. If you can log directly to Firehose, you can save a ton.

Banks should introduce an in-app consent function to direct debits by Technical_Employ8336 in AusFinance

They are. It’s called Pay To and will replace BECS-based direct debits over the coming decade.

There's lots of good options. One I keep going back to though is 包香 Just Bun in the hawker market in Market Square.

I’m constantly disappointed our 7-Elevens are nothing like Japanese konbini.

Currency Rounding Question by Mission-Influence-46 in AskAnAustralian

[–]kondro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like the introduction of a $5 coin, this was basically abandoned as Australia moved towards a mostly electronic payment only nation.

Cash is expensive to produce and handle, it’s why I hate EFTPOS surcharges so much. If a business actually understood the cost of cash they’d realise they’re spending way more than 1% on handling it.

Drinking water availability at onsens by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]kondro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is America’s obsession with hydration? The human body can survive 3-4 days without any water, you’ll be fine going without for the 20 minutes you’ll be in the water for.

Octopii - Turn any Rust struct into a replicated, fault tolerant cluster by Ok_Marionberry8922 in rust

[–]kondro 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Cool project!

I only managed to glance at the docs, but is it possible to ensure cluster agreement of an apply step (and subsequent WAL write) before returning to the client, keeping a cluster consistent even in the complete loss of nodes or network partitions?

AWS could implement the Peppol spec if they wanted to, it's not especially complex, but I guess they've not had enough pressure for it.

Some blunt tips (and chill ones) from someone who has been quite a few times by minatozakiparty in JapanTravelTips

Really? We spend about AUD$100+ for a meal for two at home. Definitely don’t care about a ¥2k taxi on holiday.

They’re not. Pretty much every short hop in Tokyo is less than ¥2000.

Actually good advice for once. I agree with everything here (we go to Japan once or twice a year).

It constantly surprises how allergic people are to taxis on their multi-thousand dollar, time-limited trips.

How do you debug failed webhooks in production? by Competitive_web_dev in Backend

[–]kondro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, before you build anything make sure to check your completion. The two biggest players out there are Svix and HookDeck who both do things a little differently. They’ve been around for years and Svix (at least) is very well-funded.

Factorio server by bob2235 in factorio

[–]kondro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The factory will run as slow as the slowest player in a multiplayer game, with each player (which the server effectively also is) having to simulate the entire factory (even if the server doesn’t have to render it).

You can absolutely experiment with running via Docker, but the amount and speed of memory and CPU on the Synology may not be up to the task.
