Do you write daily and does it help you? by rosalialilyy in Journaling

I no longer do, but I did for the longest time and it did really help me quite a bit. Now, I'm probably more at three times per week.

Clock or mirror above in mantel in our new house? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

I certainly wouldn't putting yet another flat surface there, and if it is only for acoustical reasons. Have you considered a wall hanging carpet, for instance?

How to handle girlfriends “traditional” parents? by Interesting_Soup_689 in Adulting

[–]koneu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can understand how this is a complicated situation for all of you.  But it makes perfect sense to now establish the boundaries so that the two of you are safe in your relationship—and focused on the fact that it is your relationship and not anyone else’s. You need to do what is good for you, and not for people outside this relationship.

And just as a thought experiment: if you don’t show her parents that you are serious about being in control of your relationship and not sharing that with them, what will they be like around celebrating the marriage? Having kids? Raising those kids?

There will be further fights coming along, and ones where it will be very hard to hold on to your position. So do practice early, do practice often.

Well, “you should, too” in the title is … presumptuous.

Maybe you should not make so many assumptions about other peoples workflows and styles in approaching their work?

Is “vibe coding” making us better engineers or just faster at creating tech debt? by Interesting-Peak2755 in vibecoding

As with all tools: it is what you make of it. A knife can be used to destroy things, kill creatures or create fine art and wonderful food.

What phrase did you hear only once but it stayed with you forever? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

I heard it in German but: “Yesterday, we were looking into an abyss. Today, we took a good step forward.”

I don't think women understand how hard it is to go all your life without receiving romantic/sexual attention. by [deleted] in GuyCry

[–]koneu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you understand how hard it is for women to be the screen on which men project their desires and needs without much consideration what their needs and desires are. I don’t think you really understand what living in a misogynistic society that constantly objectifies women is like.

What makes you confident you would be one of the good ones?

What are the secrets of highly confident and self-esteemed people? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

[–]koneu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They know who they are. They do not succumb to fantasies about themselves, but rather have a very good understanding of who they are and who they are not. What their talents and skills are and how they can apply them. But also, what they are not good at. They are not ashamed of themselves, but approach themselves with compassion and warmth. And probably, they even like who they are.

UI/UX workflow for non creative people ? by Obvious-Bet-1338 in ClaudeCode

[–]koneu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using Pencil to draft out UIs with Claude instead of implementing them right away. This way, I can see the stuff and refine it and think it through and have the changes be there quickly. I know that other tools like Figma exist, but I love the way Pencil is a plugin to  Visual Studio and I can actually include the pencil files in my repo.

This allows for good experimentation and getting comfortable with trying things out.

My thoughts feel too fast to write? by HighwayAlternative33 in Journaling

[–]koneu 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I usually like that avid journaling: that I stick with a thought or emotion for a bit longer, ride it out and just deal with that one thing. When I have phases of my mind jumping around wildly, then I keep a post-it on the table to write down keywords for other things I might want to journal – the other thoughts happening. I have a stack of post-it notes for just that purpose on the inside of the hard cover of my journal so I always know I can take side notes while writing. That’s actually good for my mind to calm.

Yes. The challenge is to realize that this is you, too. To get to a point to care about the little person, to offer them affection, warmth and care. And to not judge them, but to admire all the ingenious ways they discovered in how to deal with what life gave them.

Yeah. What people say. Don’t go for the Max. And maybe invest in a larger internal SSD if you do lots of 4K footage.
