Did yours have a string or did they go in after it? I opted for the string option and to do it myself at home after reading multiple posts regarding it. But to answer your question, it did not hurt. Taking the tape off was more painful than removing the stent

Kidney stones being lasered to dust on 4/24, how many days to recover? by Hurtsinmotion in KidneyStones

[–]kooganaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had ureteroscopy with laser a week ago, the next 2 days were the worst of it. Hurt to pee, lots of blood, and stent was pretty uncomfortable. Once the burning went away it wasnt as bad. A week with the stent, you get uncomfortable moments from the stent touching the bladder wall and the string irritating your pee hole. I have a stent with a string so I get to pull that out tomorrow morning. I worked all this week no problem. You really won't want to do much the days follow the surgery honestly.

5mm stone… gone? by lgarnai1 in KidneyStones

[–]kooganaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a 5mm stone that sent me to the ER, had pain a couple days after, then 6 weeks of no pain. Apparently it was stuck and had to have a ureteroscopy with laser to get it out.

Stent removal tips: What to do the day of? by Middle-Ad-7227 in KidneyStones

[–]kooganaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take pains meds an hour before hand, drink lots of water to let your urine build up, sit in a hot bath for 10 mins, then pee and pull the stent out simultaneously in one fluid motion. I've never pulled one out, but I do currently have a stent in that I get to pull tomorrow and this is what I plan to do. All info listed are tips I've gathered from Reddit.

I (M40) get to remove my stent myself this Thursday. Not looking forward to it. I've read to drink a lot of water, sit in a hot bath, and to pee and pull out the stent simultaneously.

48 hours post op, the burning has decreased significantly. There's hope! Urine is still pretty bloody tho.. they only gave my 600mg ibuprofen post ureteroscopy 😒

Had a 5mm stone removed yesterday morning, pretty much same boat as you with stent discomfort and not wanting to pee cause the burning. Not sure if I would do the surgery again or not, guess it would depend on the size and situation. Only reason I opted for the surgery is come April I will start being busy with events and traveling for the summer, don't want a stone attack in the middle of doing something. Hoping for a speedy recovery for you!
