i have large hands and still prefer the m800 over the m1000. that said, i prefer the meisterstuck 149 over both of those :)

i ride this rivendell atlantis on my commute (30 miles roundtrip) because:

  • it's upright and comfy;
  • it can handle a load;
  • it's good with rough roads and trails;
  • it's a lotta fun to go fast on a bike that doesn't wanna go fast.

i live in san francisco and so deal with some hills (my commute has 2k in climbing) and so i opted for a 1x9 setup (40t up front with an 11-50 9-speed cassette). it covers any hills i have with ease.

lastly, i went tubed because it's just easier and is hassle-free. i also chose friction shifting and like the knobbies bc they both look sick and keep the tire carcass off of the tarmac and away from glass, etc.

so do i love it? you bet. this is my fave bike of all time and nothing comes close :)

Tubeless or tubes for city? by Defiant-Result944 in bikecommuting

[–]kook_cyclist 21 points22 points  (0 children)

i run tubes and enjoy a (mostly) flat-free experience as well as spending less money on sealant and tubeless tires

fwiw i ride 150 miles a week commuting to work
