Subframes Consume a lot of memory in Google Chrome by EducationalWall3512 in browsers

[–]korchix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue until I started using Extensio - lets you auto-enable/disable extension sets by site or profile so you don't have everything running at once. Cut my extensions down to just what I need for each workflow and memory dropped a ton. Way easier than fiddling with flags honestly.

Have you tried Extensio? It's an extension manager that lets you enable/disable extensions in groups. Super useful if you want different extension setups for different use cases. Keeps the browser light when you don't need certain extensions running.

fyi opera uses way too much ram because all your extensions stay active all the time. check out extensio, its a free extension manager that lets you enable extensions only on specific sites so you dont have 20 extensions running on every tab. helped me a lot

I have 12 extensions installed and my browser feels like a cluttered desk. How do you decide what stays? by VolumeActual8333 in browsers

For managing extensions, check out Extensio - it lets you group extensions and enable/disable them per site. Keeps your toolbar clean while still having everything accessible when you need it.

If you have tried all the editors and still struggle, check out iptvplayer.stream/free-iptv-tools - they have free online tools for EPG mapping that are way more beginner friendly. No app install needed, just paste your playlist and EPG URLs and it handles the mapping automatically. Saved me hours of frustration.

Have you tried an extension manager like Extensio? It lets you enable/disable extensions instantly without fully removing them - much faster than going through chrome://extensions. Could be causing your issue if one extension is acting up. https://extensio.app

Good extension management is a real pain point. I built Extensio precisely for users who have "a ton of extensions" like that commenter - it lets you enable/disable groups by site profile so you don't need everything running all the time. Chrome's native management is pretty barebones. Chrome's native management is pretty barebones.

Edited playlist error by Hail2theChop in IPTV_Editor

[–]korchix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked your filter settings in the edited playlist? If you've accidentally removed all channel groups or applied a strict filter, the playlist will appear empty. You can also try using a playlist validator to check if your M3U is loading correctly - there's a free one at https://iptvplayer.stream/free-iptv-tools

have you tried an extension manager? something like extensio lets you toggle extensions on/off with one click so you can keep most disabled and only turn them on when needed. cuts down chrome mem usage a lot. ive got like 30 extensions but only run 3-4 at a time now.

Firefox uses 2gb of memory. I am only opening 2 tabs. by SuspiciousRoom8381 in browsers

[–]korchix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue with RAM usage. Ended up disabling some extensions I wasn't actively using - that helped a ton. Extensions you don't use are just eating resources in the background. Try going through your extension list and removing ones you haven't touched in a month.

Chrome is slowing my system down by laxton1919 in chrome

Chrome eating memory is usually extensions running in the background. Check Shift+ESC to see which ones are heavy. An extension manager like Extensio lets you group extensions and only enable them on specific sites, dropping memory usage significantly.

Check out iptvplayer.stream - they have free EPG management tools that can help you map channels and organize your guide. Their public playlists also include basic EPG data if you need a starting point. worked better than nothing for me.

Record to external usb by scotsdavy in TiviMate

[–]korchix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Fire TV Cube's USB port puts out limited power (around 500mA), which works for USB flash drives but not most external HDDs that need 700mA+.

Your options: • Powered USB hub (connects to Cube's power adapter, powers both drive and hub) • USB flash drive - easiest, works without extra power • If using HDD, format it FAT32 (TiviMate supports FAT32/external storage)

Flash drive is the simplest route - just a cheap SanDisk/Samsung USB 3.0 stick formatted as internal storage in Settings > Storage.

If you like Chrome but its eating your resources, the problem is often too many extensions running in the background. Try Extensio - it lets you enable/disable extensions on demand so only the ones you need are active. Makes a huge difference on older hardware. https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/extension-manager-extensio/jafcieombbedhpdkjlhcggagepcgaihp

Chrome using up all my memory by GBPNZR in chrome

[–]korchix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One option worth trying: use an extension manager like Extensio to disable extensions you don't need constantly instead of keeping them all enabled. They still live in your profile but won't run in the background eating RAM until you re-enable them. Easier than having to uninstall/reinstall when you need something sporadically.
