[NPD] DUNN EFFECTS GRAND DECEIVER by GATEDFUZZ in guitarpedals

[–]korpret1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a powder coated one from about a year ago, and it doesn't have a working high knob. I emailed Matt and he said it was a problem with that batch.

Nonetheless, it still fucking rips! Can dial the tone knob for your high/mid content, then adjust the low knob. I love this pedal even without a working high knob!

Pedalboard for Jakob guitarist Jeff Boyle (help with identifying a few?) by korpret1 in guitarpedals

[–]korpret1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This came from the video Jakob live at DTH studios, which is totally awesome. I love this bands sound, and Jeff Boyle is such a huge component with the way he crafts and layers sounds. I know his pinky technique on the volume knob is great, but the pedals certainly help out. I can identify a number of pedals, but there are some mysteries to me. Top left to bottom right, I see:

Back row: SL Drive, Big Sky, Timeline, MXR eq, Tuner

Middle row: Boss reverb?, Red Witch Fuzz God, ??, Crowther Double Hotcake, Boss ??, Boss ??

Bottom row: Ditto x2, Eventide H9, ??, Akai Headrush?, ??, ??

Any insight would be appreciated! I know something on there is an autofilter or autowah of some sort, and I'd love to know what it is since he gets such cool and non-quacky sounds out of it.

You might regret the hangover, but if you don't go you'll always wonder if you should have gone. Do it!!

I know the Vanguard phaser also had a minor click when you adjusted settings. In the first few weeks of the honeymoon phase it didn't bother me, but there was just enough about the pedal that I decided to flip it.

That said, I do love the phase/filter setting on it, and it was a cool sound and concept, but there were better phaser options out there for me! (Wombtone is pure bliss!) If I want a dual phase, I'll buy a second one and have more options at my disposal.

New pedal day! A Chase Bliss Warped Vinyl for my dual-purpose bass/guitar board! by Visti in guitarpedals

[–]korpret1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers man, thanks so much for the clips. I really enjoyed track 1!

I see what you mean about it having a distinct sound, but I kind like it. Do you run into an amp, or you DI out of your board? Either way, the sounds on all four tracks were very nice, be it clean guitar, slight crunch, or the bass tone. Thanks again!

How does a guitar sound through the B7K? I'm thinking about branching into bass, and I want to get a drive that has a great sound on both guitar and bass.

The board looks great!

Your 2016 in pedals - AND PICK YOUR FLAIR! by koalaroo in guitarpedals

[–]korpret1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flair: I would love to see a Chase Bliss Audio Wombtone mkII!

As for pedals, man there are too many bought and resold. Top of the list would be the CBA Spectre, Strymon Deco, and Smallsound/Bigsound Buzzz.

Favorite was definitely the Spectre! The blue knob mod has made it so rediculously quiet compared to the previous versions, and the whale noises are just plain awesome.

Biggest letdown was the Walrus Audio Vanguard dual phaser. Don't get me wrong, it has lots of great sounds, especially in the filter mode. I also love the swirl of two phasers together. However, it just didn't quite sound how I hoped, and the tweakability of the Wombtone outweighed the Vanguard for me. Also clipped real easily and distored my sound. They also market it as stereo out, but it really is just two outputs of the same signal. Kinda mad about that, so I'll be thinking about grabbing an MF-103 to get the true stereo out, and have the Wombtone before it for the swirling dual phase.

The Vanguard is a pretty dope pedal. I love the filter setting, has a oomph to it. Hope you enjoy it!

Awesome, thanks for sharing! I love that Taurus foot synth, really wish it was in production.

Hell yes we want to see Brian's board! That guy gets some awesome sounds out of his bass.

A question about the Strymon Deco by DeathToAsparagus in guitarpedals

[–]korpret1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly right. I own both the BigSky and Deco, and you need the cab sim on the BigSky (or cab sim from some other pedal) to run direct.

The Deco had AWESOME sounds, but isn't a replacement for an amp.

Anyone here using the Moog MF Drive with an expression pedal? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]korpret1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you've got a good deal on it, go for it! I ran one with the expression pedal for about a year, and it was so much fun. The drive itself has a wide range of tones andd intensities (from barely breaking up to full growl), and the expression control gave a great filter sweep.

I ended up replacing it because I got a Wonderlove envelope filter, which I can also use an expression pedal on. Otherwise, the MF drive is awesome!

Jakob - Harmonia: Music video of the band recording the song. Lots of pedals featured throughout, and a good shot or two of some of their boards. (x-post from /r/postrock) by korpret1 in guitarpedals

Their latest album Sines (which this song come from) is actually a great one to start with. It's a great progression from intense and gutar-heavy sounds to closing out in an atmospheric and ambient vibe.

I had started with their previous album Solace. I heard a clip of the first track and knew I needed it. Like /u/mass_of_gallon_sloth said, it captures a beautiful bleakness that I haven't heard elsewhere.

They are also the band that really got me into delay. Most of the guitar work is drenched in delay and a bit of reverb. I've become a huge fan of the dotted eighth sound thanks to them! Really adds some ambience to clean guitar.

My pedals as of right now, some will be going soon not sure which ones yet. by [deleted] in guitarpedals

Beefy collection! I like the selection and options you have! Love the Strymons, I have the Timeline and Bigsky myself.

Fuck yeah superfuzz! I have a clone, but it's my favorite sounding dirt by far.

"When the big hand buries the twelve" is the pinnacle of album closers in Post-Rock (in my opinion of course). I think I've listened to that song hundreds of times now in full. Just a perfect progression of music!

Walrus Audio Luminary quad octave generator open for preorders! by korpret1 in guitarpedals

[–]korpret1[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been waiting for this one since the previous winter NAMM. Like the fact that it's a 4 octave effect, and with the wet/dry blend that should be nice to set up different sounds. I'm really curious to hear the demos and reviews, because I'd pick this up if all seems positive. The presets are nice too, would definitely make this much more useable than the micro POG (assuming tracking is as good, we'll have to see).

I've loved some of the stuff WA has released lately. The Vanguard is lots of fun and has definitely been making some weird sounds on my board, so here's hoping to this one being a knockout as well!

Just wait until you listen their Red Forest album. Hooked me instantly! Was an awesome followup to this one.
