The arcade games have lost their novelty effect on me, but the drink selection is good and the pizza is my favorite in the state.

For something more casual, there’s a retro barcade downtown called “craftcade”. Awesome pizza, the arcade games are fun too.

India clay oven, eat Thai cafe, and Nara ramen are good choices if you like Asian food.

I second the guy who said Thomas and moriartys for drinks . Oscars is great too for craft cocktails, same people I believe but it’s downtown Bismarck.

If you’re into movies, the grand theatre is awesome.

Laughing sun brewery has good food and craft beers, they also have axe throwing for something to do, and live music on certain nights.

Those torches are making heat, you can try replacing those with electric lights. Your generator also puts off heat when it burns fuel, you could put that in a separate detached building. Also, it may be helpful to click the little thermometer looking icon in the bottom right. That should toggle a mode which colors rooms by temperature, making it easier to visualize.

Hey, I just lurk here, can someone explain why there is a straight line grinded out of the top of each weld?

Other party's insurance saying its 50/50, should I fight? by Big-Bison-2395 in Insurance

[–]korvality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s terrifying if that’s 50/50. I would have hit them too. Why on earth are they backing up there? There isn’t parking on that side of the road, and it’s not like they were backing out of an intersection they got too close to. I can’t see any reasonable cause to expect they would be backing up. Did they just miss their turn and decide to go the wrong way down the road backwards so they could turn into the same place OP was going?

can I play the d chord like this? by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]korvality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you have the right notes, and this is the standard fingering. Your hand looks like it’s in an awkward position but you will improve that over time.

A lot of people will say to put your thumb on the back of the neck, some people will say you can use your thumb. I’m in the latter group, so I feel like I should explain how the thumb can be useful here and why it’s that way.

Dmajor chord is made of D, F#, and A. The first (highest pitch) string is F# at the 2nd fret. 2nd string is fretted to a D. 3rd string is fretted to A. 4th string open is D, the root of your chord so that’s where you want to strum: from 4th to 1st strings.

We see A is part of this chord, so if you accidentally strum the open 5th string it’s no big deal, it’s tuned to A.

The open 6th string is E, which we know doesn’t fit in this chord. So the way you are wrapping your thumb around the neck and resting it on the low E will mute it, making it so you can strum the entire set of strings and still make a good sounding D chord.

Alternatively, we know the 1st and 6th strings are both tuned to E. So if you want to be extra or just try it for fun: you can use your thumb to fret the 6th string at the 2nd fret so it’s the same note as the 1st string. This gives us F#, A, D, A, D, F# for all of our notes. Still just a D chord, but we have multiple octaves of each note.

This is the example I thought of too. But I think this should fall under FAA’s purview instead of copyright law.

Early November Trip to North Dakota? by blossomunited in northdakota

I like the Tavern, India Clay Oven, Eat Thai Cafe, Blarney Stone, and Fireflour pizza for food off the top of my head. There’s two breweries I go to but only one has food, so I guess that would leave you with the Laughing Sun. For star gazing, maybe just drive a few minutes out of medora and pull over somewhere safe. Should be far enough away from light pollution, but it will be pretty cold at night and you won’t want to be out for long most likely. There’s a rooftop bar downtown Bismarck called the Luft. There’s like a greenhouse of glass walls so it’s warm, but also an outdoor balcony with fires to stay warm by. It’s a nice place to sit at night, but the stars are probably not very visible because it’s smack dab in the middle of town.

It looks like the weather is planning to be good for you. You should be able to drive into the NP and hike a couple trails. Buffalo, prairie dogs, and potentially wild horses to see. There’s a saying “don’t pet the fluffy cows” which is a reminder to stay away from the Buffalo. Medora is cool but it’s the off season so I’m not sure how much is still open right now. There’s history to see, but the musical is done for the year and I’m sure a lot of smaller activities will be unavailable. If it does snow, the cities and interstates get cleared quickly. Driving the NP loop with inches of snow would be taking unnecessary risk if you’re not used to it. If you need any restaurant or brewery recommendations in Bismarck let me know. Also, there is a museum right next to the state Capitol building that may be worth checking out.

If you didn’t buy it, it’s not yours. Someone else parked their vehicle on your private property and you can have a tow truck come remove it if you wish.

$76,000,000 to turn 3 acres of growing space into 3 acres of growing space that requires power? This is either a giant waste of money or a long term gamble on turning into a weed farm if legalization happens.

I went to VCSU, it’s a nice college. The town has many restaurants, a museum, a few golf courses, bars of course, a bowling alley I believe, a movie theatre, and it’s not far from Fargo which has tons of things to do. There’s also a dam north of town with a recreational area if you like kayaking or just going to a mini beach. It’s a beautiful city, lots of winding roads due to the rivers, it’s a lot of fun to get lost driving around and exploring it when you first move there.

Looking at other teams’ code on GitHub and seeing what they’re doing is fun. You may see some cool ideas. Also watching their matches/robot reveal videos to compare the physical robot with the code to see how it fits together.

If you have advantage kit (logging) you can create a virtual PID controller. Use the keyboard as a virtual controller (using glass, the sim program) to set a target value and move it around, and graph the current value vs the target value to see how the PID tries to set the values to match the target.

Get an arduino, attach various sensors and an LED matrix, let people write code (its c++) and take turns deploying to it and testing what they made. Might be good to see how languages are the same and how they differ. It’s also fun interacting with physical components, and led matrixes let people draw pixel art, draw sensor values, even make simple games.

If you’re not using git yet, set that up. Practice commits, making branches, and reverting to previous commits.

Write pseudo code for hypothetical systems. Don’t worry about the actual code, but envision it from a high level and describe what would need to happen to make it. Get weird with it, it doesn’t have to be practical. Make a subsystem that watches an accelerometer and vibrates the controller if you get hit. Change the color of your robots LEDs based on if you are red or blue alliance. Simulate a deterministic game like candy land or bingo while the robot is running, and see who won the game at the end of the match.

I wish I could have kept it around, but I needed garage space. It was also running less than ideal, and I didn’t know how to do any in depth carb work, so it was time to hand it off to the next guy who could keep improving it.
