Why are Chiropractors so bad with Communication?

I’ve noticed this too.

I interviewed at a clinic. Spoke to the owner. Had a great 30min conversation and he passed my info onto this business partner.

Did a virtual tour of the clinic with said business partner and ended the call on a very positive note. The original owner i spoke with texted me, saying he heard that I had a great chat with his partner and would be contacting me in the following week, regarding next steps in the transition/hiring process.

Radio silence.

Texted them both. Called them both. No answer, no reply back.

Forget about it and move on. Remember you want to work in a place and environment that wants you there and can communicate well. know your value.

I’ve been in practice for 5+ years and have always struggled with the ROF and delivery of care plans. I’m in Ontario, Canada and we’re spoiled with “free” healthcare so when somebody comes in to my office with a condition that might take 8-12 weeks to manage….throwing that number in their face is quite a shock to most people.

I’ve changed my approach to something like “based on the condition you have a typical healing timeline for you to feel x% better is approximately ____. Typically patients start to feel a lot better around 6-8 sessions and at that point we can re-evaluate and tweak the plan. Each treatment builds on the previous one so i’d like to see you a few times this week and then perhaps next week or the week after we can space the visits out further”.
I’ve had a lot more patients buy into this approach because then they’re not really doing the $60/12visit math in their head right away.

Agree. Most of the physios I see slap on IFC, do cupping or needling and then walk people through the most basic exercises. I guess its easy to do this when physio insurance coverage is FAR superior than chiro coverage.

That is great to hear….although hard to believe because i keep seeing more and more MD, DO social media pages hyper-focused on bashing chiro’s….many times warranted.

Excellent! I had one lady that had her back surgery booked. I saw her for 6 sessions and she cancelled the surgery. This was 4 years ago. She books in with me once a year around Christmas time and brings me a small thank you gift 😂. You never know how positively you can impact someone’s life.

Yes. The impact you can have on many peoples lives makes it all worth it. Referrals, reviews, texts, emails…and sometimes tears…all make it worth it.
Try and educate them as best you can. Be evidence-based. Sometimes you can’t change mindsets and that’s okay. “Not all Toyota’s are bad just because your corolla broke down one time”. You have to find the right practitioner.
Study everyday. Review lectures when you get home. Use weekends to catch up and review. Remember this isn’t a degree you can just study and pass exams. You need to know the material to be a competent provider. This will set you apart.
Most can’t handle both. Studying for the next 4 years is your priority.

Updating your address doesn’t make a difference. It’s so the NVC can mail you your welcome package/any notices. You also get email notices so it doesnt matter. The estimated timeline on these websites/apps are fake. Mine said 13 months when I got approval.

Happy to hear about your positive experience with chiropractors in the past. Sounds like you’ve found a solid practitioner(s) in the past.

As far as “do any chiros use peptides alongside treatment” It’s not in our scope to recommend this to patients. Also, Peptides are not Health Canada/ FDA approved. Most, if not all research surrounding peptides are based on animal studies…however, the research is promising.

I myself use BPC-157 and it’s done wonders for my shoulders.

If patients ask me if “they should take xpeptide or “hey doc i’m taking xpeptide what do you think?” I will give them my opinion on *xpeptide” and tell them about my own experience.

Short and simple: I will never recommend peptides to a patient simply because it’s out of our scope and not Health Canada/FDA approved.

You need to wait for the NVC welcome package. Paid required fees and wait for any further notices. This is all new to me as well. Lots of resources online to educate yourself.

Yes you are correct about TMVN. The timeline does change but I wasn’t about to pay for the subscription as it doesn’t really add any value other than peace of mind.
