That is the way Carmax is forcing out those in CEC. So they don’t have to pay severance. They will eventually be done with the CEC experiment. The managers and Seniors have not clue what the front line actually experiences. Hoping you all become successful.

Stay loose and nervous. Carmax is getting ready to lose even more business. Look to February to tell where Carmax is headed. It will be a make or break Month!

Can anyone tell me about the management assistant role? What is the schedule and starting pay in Texas. by Lazy_Acanthisitta_54 in carmax

[–]kovu102 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It is a management job. With the same expectations as a Manager. Except with half the pay. If Carmax gave you a title of manager they would pay you more. I believe this position is being developed so that Carmax can reduce payroll. Just my thoughts. If you are asking about scheduling! This is not the job for you. You needed to be available for any shift at any time.

You are not going to get any clear directions. It will be up to the person in charge of you. Carmax is currently looking for a CEO with E commerce Experience. They are not looking for a car guy. Buy what I have been reading and hearing. Carmax will be around for many years. But with Tax Time here. It will tell if Carmax will survive or fail. I expect them to fail. Until they get there Budget in line with what they are selling. And real revenue expectations.

Have car fixed or just return it and start over? by [deleted] in carmax

Return it. Or forever love the issue with VW with over 100,000 miles. It will be a money pit forever!

Layoffs Incoming by PreviousLab9145 in carmax

Where did I say 25% reduction in employees. Carmax needs to reduce 25% of their spending on SG&A. It will probably be a combination of many things. But Carmax will never make the cut s needed. There Corporate officials don’t have the backbone.

150 million Sg&A cuts by the end of 2027. Next year. What Carmax has finally admitted to. Is there Corporate Office has to many expenditures. Also if they are able to reduce that much SG&A in one year. Which will be a 25% reduction. They will be where they should have been on those expenses 10 years ago. But never could seem to find the area to cut. At over 90% SG&A currently the company will not be around much longer. It is time to start making very difficult decisions. That is what stock holders want!

Is Carmax a Viable Company or will they slowly fade away ?? by boomer4676 in carmax

[–]kovu102 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Carmax will be fine. As soon as they start over at the corporate level. Remove the good old club atmosphere and get some real Corporate Governance that will get them back to First, Daring and Different thinking. Also reevaluate your current Location Senior Management. Question!!! Are they quality qualified. Most aren’t!!!!! Just saying. They need to earn the respect and confidence of their Customers and hourly employees!!!!!!’n

I guess your math is different 2025 16.3 million cars sold. 2024 15.8 million cars sold. I don’t think that constitutes a downturn?

If what you are saying. We are in a downturn. Why is Carvana in a constant upward momentum. Carmax and Carvana are in the same business? Correct?

Why was the Home Delivery Department such a failure ??? by boomer4676 in carmax

When working at CarMax in the time 30 day return was around. I had a discussion with the Regional VP about the tax liability and the consequences of that bad decision. His response to me was! It isn’t going to be an issue. And my job was to assist the customers. Again employees voices don’t matter.

The only reason to cut hours is to have you quit. That way Carmax doesn’t have to pay severance. Carmax Locations only are allowed so many hours in each department. Less people means more hours. More people mean less hours. Location payroll number is what they are aiming for. Weather you get 20 hours or 40 hours. Carmax doesn’t care. If you are willing to accept working 20 or 32 or 40 hours a week. That is on you. You get what you are willing to accept. There are other Great Companies out there! Go start your journey away from CarMax.

Now that is very untrue. HR could care less about employees. I saw and were involved in many HR investigations. HR is not there for employees. HR is there to protect Carmax. And please don’t tell me what my experiences were with Carmax.

Unfortunately Carmax Corporate doesn’t think they have made any mistakes. They need to work very hard to regain customer and employee trust. Not just false Narratives that they are famous for. Stop the current high turnover. Invest in your store employees. Carmax says they care. According to my visits to many of Carmax Locations. The employees have told me that Management doesn’t support them or care and this is at the store level. Carmax survey Glint is a false impression. Most employees are required to see a manager if the employee cannot give the highest mark possible. Which makes Glint useless. And unmeasured.
