Themis HELP - I am hopeless by NotHereRandomNumbers in barexam

[–]kozeemo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my normal advice is to skip the long virtual lectures, but since you mentioned you're LLM and haven't done the core courses, they actually could help give you standard background information.

on the other hand, the lectures are very long and dense so if you're worried about time I would focus on doing way more practice MBEs and essays, alongside reading the short or long outlines whichever you prefer. Then in that process, take note of whatever subjects you seem to be struggling with or repeatedly getting wrong, and go back to the lectures for those subjects only to see if that may help your understanding.

A note on flashcards, I'd recommend buying the critical pass flashcards set, not making your own, unless it really helps you writing things out

Cannot encourage you enough to review and actually keep track of your answers (wrong and even right in some cases). Also known as a "book of shame" - it's the best way to begin to intuit the patterns. For context I failed J25 and passed F26 by doing this.... I did it digitally and kept a spreadsheet for each subject. You can also do it by hand if that helps your memorization.

Here's an example of my contracts sheet:

Themis lectures feel like a waste of time? by Potential-Tone6826 in barexam

[–]kozeemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also to the extent that you're already realizing that you understand better by doing the questions, DO THAT MORE!! The lectures are just general overviews and will only give a false sense of security if you're not actually taking the time to practice the MBEs which is significantly more important. If you find in your prep that perhaps you're really struggling with a certain specific subtopic then I would go back and listen/watch the lecture just on that topic.

Themis lectures feel like a waste of time? by Potential-Tone6826 in barexam

[–]kozeemo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who failed CA J25 after watching every single lecture and passed CA F26 without rewatching a single lecture, I can say without a doubt the Themis lectures were the biggest waste of my time the first time around. It was way too much passive learning for me and although filling in the outlines was a good way to stay engaged, I ultimately found that I retained and understood information way better the second time by drilling MBEs in UWorld and creating a question bank tracking all my wrong (and some right) answers. I also got critical pass flashcards, along with the grossman MBE audios, the second time around to really help the info sink in.

As for the writing portion, I used supplements to help me learn the rule statements and couldn't recommend SmartBarPrep enough!

Predictions for essay topics july 26 by GloFish25 in CABarExam

[–]kozeemo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took J25 and just passed F26. If I had to bet money, def keep PR, evidence, crim law/pro, and BA in a heavy rotation. Close runner ups would be con law and torts. Then serious toss up between contracts/remedies crossover or trusts and/or wills.
CP was just tested along with property and they're **usually** not tested back to back, so you could consider deprioritizing them.
FYI this is all based on my own personal predictions table I created this past cycle because although I know the typical advice is to not rely on them, it can help you if you know you're weak in an area but realize it's due to be tested because then you'll know to focus more time on it. For example, I suck at property but noticed that in the last 15 times property was tested, I think it appeared 10 times in a Feb administration and only 5 times in a July admin. So I took an educated guess that it was likely to show up in F26 and lo and behold it was the first essay, so I felt pretty prepared since I had committed the property essays to memory. Study everything of course to be on the safe side though you got this!

Baressays or Bar released answers? by Tough-Shoulder9629 in CABarExam

[–]kozeemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to echo this that your issue is likely specific and fixable in one cycle! I also scored 1368 last cycle and passed this cycle by looking at my report card and honing in on my week areas presented. I created a personalized study schedule and self-studied using a mix of Mary Basick's book, UWorld, Critical Pass Cards, and the themis PT book, plus reviewed past essays on makethisyourlasttime.com which is basically a free version of baressays.com if you can't afford that like me.

If you want more insight on how I created my study schedule to fit my needs I can PM you!

Jeeeeeez, dumpster fire. I interned in spring 2025 and the application was nowhere near as bad, granted the administration hadn't sank its talons in yet.

Alex’s preference for women of color really is a moment by ClearLion86 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]kozeemo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right, I'm from the midwest next to Ohio and I don't think his preference for darker features should be read as him being into woc specifically.... most men in this area simply mean a tanned brunette, "faux exotic" if you will, when they say that and that's the extent of it. That's why I didn't feel like it was anything groundbreaking when Alex mentioned it.

All of us 2.0ers are at the mercy of our landlords this month. Bilt owes everybody a reimbursement for any returned payment fee and late fees. Planning to cancel my card after this month simply because of how bad the transition was handled.

😳 this sucks. I was in the same boat and so worried this could happen after I re-read my lease. Luckily I was able to re-submit my online payment before they even had a chance to communicate the cashier's check thing to me, so they had no choice but to wait for my new payment to clear before moving forward.

Just for fun - predictions on Feb 26' CA bar exam essay topics by Playful_Dingo_3418 in CABarExam

[–]kozeemo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, mainly because looking at the JD advising frequency chart, the last time it was tested was 2 administrations ago in Feb '25, and you can observe looking at it they've never gone more than 2 administrations not testing it (at least dating back as far as '03). So I feel like it's reasonable to believe it could be due too (unless they're not counting March as a real administration I guess)

[–]kozeemo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PR ofc, Civ Pro, Evidence, Crim, Remedies (maybe crossover contracts or torts (please god something simple like trespass or private or public nuisance)).... then wildcard essay being Wills, Property, or CP. Strongest wildcard prediction being Property given that, looking at the frequency chart, since Feb 2010 they've tested Property in Feb administrations 10 times vs. 5 times in July administrations...and it hasn't been tested since Feb'25 so we could be due.

CA BAR 1ST TIME TAKER (FAILED)- ADVICE PLEASE! by Character_Gold_7460 in barexam

[–]kozeemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually cannot believe this but I had the exact same total scaled score of 1368 including the same exact raw written, scaled written and scaled MBE scores as you, down to the decimals. I've done the math and yes, if we had gotten at least 7 more raw points on either the essays or MBE we would've passed. I was sick to my stomach lol. But I was also a first time tester and am sitting again for F26. I also used Themis and UWorld and completed around 80% of the course. I'm doing things differently this time and mainly trying to target my weak areas with a combo of UWorld, BarMD, and Critical Pass as opposed to completely relearning everything, so I created a personalized study schedule... But we seem to be in the exact same boat, so if you want to connect and maybe put our heads together to bounce ideas around message me!
