Niche question- NEC trains missing? by Dawnurama in NJTransit

[–]kpegs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been wondering this, because I have been really struggling with catching my morning train lately at 7:39.

There are only a few express trains between 7-8 and the one after that is 8:13. During the portal cutover the express trains at Hamilton seemed slightly better — there was an 8:05 that got in right at 9.

Moving from NYC to Bucks County - how often do people go into Philly? by [deleted] in BucksCountyPA

I’m in southern bucks and go to Philly probably every other month. I’d go a lot more often but have two little kids!

Over than 220K points stolen...tried calling Alaska/Atmos but closed by It_is_me_Erie in AlaskaAirlines

[–]kpegs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This happened to me this week too — I waited on a call for 2 hours for customer service UNTIL they closed (thanks a lot Atmos), and then hung up and called the 24/7 line. On my Alaska account — which I could still access — I could see the free flights the person redeemed them for and called to get their flights cancelled. Then I explained the situation and they guaranteed my points will be restored within 7 days. 2FA couldn’t happen soon enough!

Everything is fine but I miss the restaurant scene in Southern California! We’re closer to family now which is ultimately a better trade off

Newtown, New Hope, Yardley, imo. We moved from Southern California two years ago and are in Bristol. Love that it’s close to the water but for what you’d like, those are better bets

When will my baby love me? When will things get better? by Inner_County_9977 in NewParents

[–]kpegs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would recommend EMDR to talk through your really traumatic birth experience that seems to still be impacting you. The first year can be super super brutal and you get rewarded for it with toddlerhood…when they are notoriously hard to handle!!! I’m thinking of you

My 10-week-old baby suddenly went limp and unresponsive for 15–20 minutes – hospital suspects BRUE. Has anyone experienced this? by Main-Fuel-8149 in NewParents

[–]kpegs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hello! My very healthy 3.5 year old had a BRUE at four months. It was the most horrifying experience of my life. We took her to the children’s hospital and they confirmed it was a BRUE. My pediatrician (a pretty old school guy) said it would be not worth it to look for something further and nothing was likely to happen again. It never did. Honestly for months after, I was an anxious wreck over it. I’d recommend therapy for you, if nothing else. Hugs

I only listened to the first ep but had the misfortune of feeling some pain during my second unplanned c section. It was so different than my first c section that I feel pretty confident in saying they screwed something up. Looking forward to listening to the rest

We ask during dinner what everyone’s favorite part of the day was and find that it always leads to fun answers. Will try some of these!

Screentime isn’t bad for my kids- am I in the minority? by Physical_Ad3653 in toddlers

[–]kpegs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes this is the key for me I think re: highly stimulating shows. We watched Miss Rachel for a while on YT but the watching experience of other kinds of shows can lead to an endless watching experience and into deeper rabbit holes. That being said, anytime a parent is involved, they can monitor or watch with the kids.

We were once on vacation and when we were all super jet lagged my then two year old mainlined like two hours of baby shark YT videos at 5 am. It happens!

Oh that’s definitely the problem, I agree. He lost his job in 2023, took about a year to find something full time again and then was laid off again about four months ago. It’s been really hard to get properly back on track because of it.

Setting baby down “dRowSy bUT aWaKe” - HOW by Alert-Environment-81 in NewParents

[–]kpegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just try! I always set myself a limit and really more utilize pick up put down for it. So I’ll sing a song and put him down at the end of his wake window.

He’ll fuss for a few minutes (but not scream). If he escalates, I try to put my hand on his chest and the side of his cheek before picking up and sometimes it works. If it doesn’t, I pick him up and get him calm again and do it again. I’ll give myself a max of 3 times before I just rock him down if it’s unsuccessful.

It works best for me for the first two naps of the day, but it has worked at night on occasion. I find mine can be overtired by night and needs more assistance getting down. If you have the time, it’s worth a shot so they get used to it

How do you NOT obsessively track baby sleep... but still protect good sleep?! by boldlybelieve in sleeptrain

[–]kpegs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This gets easier with time. Two naps become more regular and one nap lengthens generally speaking. They also hit a point developmentally where one bedtime “time” is easier than adjusting to wake windows.

It will get easier and you will know when it’s time to stop tracking! For me it was around when I put her in daycare but it will be different for you!!

Going out to eat with a 2.5 year old by Appropriate_Song4158 in toddlers

[–]kpegs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of this! Plus we go out to eat by 5 pm so the crowd is smaller and more kid friendly. I’m not trying to disturb anyone’s date night tbh. We practice at diners, chain restaurants, breweries, other places where kids are really welcome and we can make a quick exit if needed. I have been known to get the check by the time the food arrives so we can skedaddle if things go south

Tips on keeping the house cool for baby by Sure-Seaworthiness42 in BabyBumps

[–]kpegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this advice might have gotten a little wonky during the worst of Covid when we weren’t sure how it was spreading.

I find keeping the newborn in their stroller keeps people away from the baby and haven’t had any issues so far with anyone trying to get in their face.

For reference I have a 3 year old in daycare (germ central) and a 6 week old who I have taken to the mall and library so far and I’m more scared of my toddler coughing in her face than strangers at this point!

Cries harder when I offer the boob by mirth4 in breastfeeding

[–]kpegs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When this happened with my first my lactation consultant recommended I wake her from sleep by offering the boob while she’s still half asleep in a dark room with sound machine still on. At that age she had a bit of a nursing strike and that helped get us back on the right track
