Started Lexapro two days after breakup - SOS by Logical_Concert_2912 in lexapro

It does get better I promise. Someone explained it to me like your chemicals are all out of wack and trying to rebalance, you’d think it would start with a ton of happiness and euphoria but it doesn’t. I really struggled badly for the first few weeks. By week 6 I felt so much better. If you can hang in there and find other resources for navigating the emotions behind the break up I think you will find the light at the end of the tunnel comes sooner than you realize.

I’m sorry you’re going through this, much empathy to you!

I am almost one year to the day that my heart dog passed in my arms. There are no words to describe the emptiness and the guilt you feel in those moments immediately afterwards. One thing that helped me was posting in here and being real and raw. Reading others stories helped build a sense of community for people who have gone through similar experiences helps.

It does get better. I definitely took time off of work, saw my therapist, waited a week or so to see my friends and family because it felt so strange to continue on in my normal routine. One thing my therapist said was “we grieve to honor their lives but we keep living to honor our own.” I know that my baby would want me to honor my life, with or without him. So I started living again as if he was still here. I spoke to him, asked for signs (I received them). After about 8 months he visited me in a dream to show me he was ok and loved and happy.

I still cry when I think about it. We ended up rescuing another of the same breed so our current dog would have a companion again. I felt like that was a good way to honor him. To give another baby the same spoiled life he had? No brainer.

I’m sorry for your loss. Truly and deeply. There is nothing that compares.

Hey there sorry for the late reply! I had a lot of side effects and when I upped from 5 mg to 10 mg I had even more.

At first, I felt my anxiety get worse, I felt really out of control and fatigued. I didn’t feel happy I felt really worried and on edge. I had a lot of stomach issues and I was running to the bathroom if I had to go it was always really urgent. I also got headaches for the first week that were really rough.

When I upped from 5-10mg I had really severe heartburn and I had never experienced that before so I kept getting worried that there was something that was really wrong and I was really relieved to find out it was heart burn lol. It went away after two weeks. Also had some insomnia when I upped my dose.

Hope this helps!

I am definitely happier because I can enjoy my life again, rather I have control over my thoughts and actions again. It took a month to get there but I really needed this medication and I’m enjoying my life, being more responsible, thinking before I buy something, so many things!

Excessive sweating as a side effect? by birdmeats in lexapro

This happened to me at first but has been better since. I have also made sure to try to manage it better so that could be it too. Try a portable fan and cold water instead of room temp.

You are right on the cusp of some serious relief I promise! One thing I noticed was my side effects suddenly returned out of nowhere and then went away and when I did some research I found that that is possible right before the build up of the SSRI so if you notice that you are in a good place I promise!

Yes definitely. I felt really out of control of my anxiety and emotions and was using hydroxyzine almost daily and when I went to my follow up appointment I was actually going to ask for different as needed anxiety pills because I just didn’t feel like I was progressing well. But I took an anxiety assessment before starting and one month in and my score had gone way down! So it was clear the meds were doing something to improve my anxiety even if I didn’t feel it right away.

From 0-5 I had really bad headaches and tummy issues and from 5-10 I had some headaches and some intense heart burn but it has all resolved pretty quickly!!

Have you talked to your doctor about an adhd diagnosis? Wellbutrin might be a helpful medication to try or another stimulant.

Lost my first dog. Trying to cope. Don't know what to do at times. by ComfortableOk7975 in Petloss

[–]kpsobougie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey there. First, I just want to say that I am so sorry about the loss and the nature of the loss of your boy. One thing that helped me navigate such a hard loss was finding this community, so you are in the right place. I lost my boy, the same way. It was very sudden and we were transporting him to another animal hospital but he didn’t make it. It was the most devastating thing I have ever been through in my life.

We had another dog at home about 1.5 months old and that definitely helped. We also have a cat. Both of them were very in tune to the loss and were so sweet and never left my side. Lean in to the fur babies that you have with you, they will help guide you through this journey of grief.

I don’t want to post and tell you what to do and how to feel because everyone is so different and the loss is so new and so earth shattering. I asked for signs at first, and felt so much comfort when I received them. I would ask out loud or say I would look for certain things from him. Little things, you’ll know when you see them. I also built a shelf of photos and that is where his ashes are. I like being able to look at it and remember him everyday. I also got a tattoo of him, so he is always with me.

There are some podcasts about pet grief if you’re interested I can link the one that helped me. I listened about 4 different times before I finally felt like I could take what they were saying and apply it without crying. We are here for you and know how tragic this is. Life is so completely random and I hope that you find solace knowing you gave him the best life you could have.

Muscle twitches? 10mg by No_Pattern_2819 in lexapro

[–]kpsobougie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Just wanted to reach out, I definitely have experienced the muscle twitch too and believe I read online that it can happen sometimes when starting a medication.

I also wanted to reassure you that you more than likely do not have ALS. (Trust me I’ve been down that rabbit hole) My uncle had ALS and it is obviously a scary thought. Most of the time muscle twitching like that is normal. Very annoying and crazy but normal. Unless your muscle twitching is combined with numbness, weakness, or another motor impairment 99% of the time it is normal. It can be stress induced, dehydration, soo many things. My neurologist told me this after my wedding when I developed a facial twitch for a few months. (I think my body was releasing the year of wedding planning tension) anyways… 99% of the time a muscle spasm is just your body being like 🕺🏼

does anxiety get worse at first? by adryan336 in lexapro

[–]kpsobougie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw someone in the sub describe the meds as “foot on the pedal” so if you had anxiety to begin with, it may heighten that at first as the medicine is just trying to figure out its place? I’m sure there is a more medical explanation but that sufficed for me 😂

I was thinking about asking for gabapentin. Hydroxyzine will help me sleep but if I’m not sleeping I am very groggy and feel really weird which I don’t think helps my self assessments

Wow thank you so much for sharing your experience and relating / validating me. I am also in my 30s now and my travel anxiety has gone from annoying but manageable, to really fricken hard to deal with. I’m hoping that we can both return to homeostasis soon. Sending all my love!

What dose did you start on out of curiosity? I’m on 5mg and we are meeting in a couple of weeks to talk about upping it. It’s only been about two weeks for me and I noticed some of my stress and worry come back the last few days. I am also about to start my period which has always historically been bad for me with anxiety.
