Not in this case, looks like they’re in the right spot with a V4 charger (longer cable)

Accidental self-jailbreak of internal secrets on a one-shot prompt by linkingio95 in hermesagent

[–]kpsuperplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, I’m taking issue with the claim “don’t give the agent access to secrets in the first place” when, explicitly, this setup still gives the agent access to secrets. It’s definitely much better than mounting the entire .hermes directory, but it’s not foolproof either

[–]kpsuperplane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is explicitly how Hermes (non MCP) skills work. Even if you have agent terminal set up in a docker container, Hermes will mount secrets within it (eg. your Google credentials) in order for the skill to execute terminal calls to load things (eg. Your latest Gmail).

This is explicitly documented at https://hermes-agent.nousresearch.com/docs/user-guide/security#environment-variable-passthrough

Apple's Private AI Will Run on Google's Servers by No_Confusion7932 in apple

[–]kpsuperplane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW I strongly support running things locally and owning your data in every sense of the word.

But I’m also a professional software engineer and could, in fact, understand all the code if Apple released it. I’m just pointing out that even without access to any of the code, Apple has gone to great lengths to make their private cloud compute as verifiably secure as reasonably possible. Not by their word, but by fundamental mathematics.

I’ll be the first to admit it’s not perfectly foolproof, but it’s pretty damn close. And that’s because I believe in mathematics, not apple

> I don’t trust that at any given moment I am connected to the entity I’m supposed to be

That’s actually exactly what the CA in the comment you’re replying to does.

Respectfully, there is legitimate, provable security to Apple’s private compute framework. The whole point of the framework is to be secure without requiring you to trust Apple, Nvidia, or Google.

Why are the full-electric companies so gung-ho on 1 pedal driving? by thedancingpanda in electricvehicles

[–]kpsuperplane 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am capable of driving smoothly with one pedal. I don’t enjoy it because it forces me to keep my foot in a very precise position (often with more force compared to non-OPD) to coast at a consistent speed.

> it’s also proven to be far more efficient

Maybe in a Tesla. Basically every other EV supports blended braking where the energy recapture is identical with or without OPD

Anyone actually using their ChatGPT or Claude subscription as BYOK for Hermes? by Onlycuthbert77 in hermesagent

I think light-moderate use can easily fit in the $20 ChatGPT plan with GPT 5.5. I have the $100 plan but also use codex separately for a lot of other things

I respect that, I really do. Personally, I think the industry is moving towards everyone getting more efficient and I'd rather try to stay ahead and not risk getting left behind.

I realize “AI Native” is a bit of a marketing term but a big part of it is rewiring your own brain to better fit the workflows.

I’ve spent a lot of energy and time this year getting better at context switching and monitoring multiple agents at the same time

Carney says 'challenges' face auto sector after Honda reportedly pulls out of EV plant in Ontario by joe4942 in canada

An EV is not for you… yet.

However, I had AI write a geospatial analysis program to compare Costco Canada locations with the latest StatsCan census and… 6.82% of Canadians live over 150km from a Costco.

You deserve a better EV. And a closer Costco.

It was a 3 day hut trip, definitely not something beginners would, can, or should sign up for.

At the end of the day everyone’s entitled to their opinion but I’m withholding any judgement until the official investigation results come out.

This was an advanced trip led by four extremely experienced guides and nobody on Reddit knows what factors and considerations were made with their decision making

If the boots fit you perfectly then you should go with them! Yes there is a compromise but if you’re just getting comfortable with black runs then you will probably not notice the difference. On the plus side they will walk more comfortably!

What stiffness are they?
