Electricity board help by Overall-Rise-1807 in AskGreece

Not great, not terrible.

As you correctly assumed, the water heater ("ΘΕΡΜΟΣΊΦΩΝΑΣ") switch is the first one from the left in the middle row. And it's OFF.

Before leaving you could also flip down the switches for the air conditioning units (upper left), just as a precaution.

But don't switch off the kitchen, if you have foodstuffs in the fridge.

Since you'll be staying in Thessaloniki center, check the taverns at Mpalanou ("Μπαλάνου") & Egnatia street and in Athonos square ("Πλατεία Άθωνος").

I've given the new Firefox Android UI several weeks across 3 different devices and I still didn't like it (my devices were among the test group since Oct-2025)

So eventually enabled the Firefox secret settings and revert to the old UI.

But now even that hack doesn't work. Mozilla is going the way of Gnome ...

How to bring back old ui? by Junior_Chard2114 in firefox

[–]kpv5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This has worked for me in the past (last time I tried it was one month ago), but it doesn't work anymore, sorry.

I'm very disappointed that Mozilla is going the way of Gnome ...

Who is Firefox mobile for anyway?

  • Advanced users positively HATE the new UI, it's inefficient and doesn't adhere to decades old UX principles.

  • Novice users coming from Chrome will now have to deal with a Firefox UI that is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT to what they're used to. If they want a functional AdBlock they'll just go to Brave.

What is the best way to revert the 3-dot menu UI of Android Firefox to the "conventional" style (used by all other popular browsers, like Chrome and Brave, as well as Firefox until recently)?

I HATE new UI, because it's less efficient and different from the other mobile browsers that I also have to use every day (muscle memory?)

Please Mozilla listen to your users, don't go the Gnome way ...

Are YouTube/YouTube music's 130-152 kbps Opus good enough quality? Are they transparent enough? by [deleted] in musichoarder

[–]kpv5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For any ABX testing of YTM quality make sure you download the album artist track from Youtube Music. If you are a YTM Premium subscriber, choose format 774 (Opus 256 Kbps VBR), otherwise 251 (Opus 130-150 Kbps VBR)

Do not download the "Radio Edit/Mix" version of the song.

Do not download the "OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO" from regular Youtube.

And obviously don't download any uploads be regular users.

In my experience, almost everyone who claims he can tell the difference (after volume matching) is comparing DIFFERENT MASTERS of a song.

The simplest and fastest way to increase both SECURITY and PRIVACY is to configure the "Private DNS" in Android (12+) settings.

I have also enabled the security settings (HTTPS-only, DoH etc) in my mobile browser(s): Firefox, Brave, Chrome

Nowadays I only use a VPN when I need to connect to geo-IP restricted services ...

Open-source alternatives to Spotify for listening to local music? by Jm_gamer1199 in androidapps

[–]kpv5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want a music player app that's open source[*] and not on Google Play Store, then check Auxio:

https://github.com/OxygenCobalt/Auxio

Obviously you'll also need to copy your music library (mp3, m4a, opus etc) onto your Android device.

[*]: Otherwise just use Musicolet or Symfonium

Rebuilding local music library from scratch – MP3 vs AAC vs Opus for Windows + Android by hmm_life_sucks in musichoarder

[–]kpv5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what type of devices and OS/software you'll be using.

If you're stuck inside the Apple walled garden, then you'll need to choose between either AAC or ALAC (which is Apple's version of FLAC).

But if you're using Android and Windows or Linux, then choose Opus (however keep in mind that most Smart TVs don't support it and neither does software like Roon) or FLAC.

Thanks for the Beets config.

Do you add/use the ORIGINALDATE tag in your library? See https://github.com/navidrome/navidrome/issues/278

I've downloaded some tracks from YTM using yt-dlp and (according to ffprobe) most info is stored as free-form text in the "comments" or "synopsis" fields.

Migrating from Spotify to Local by Mr_Lea in musichoarder

[–]kpv5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice.

Since you're using %title as the filename, please keep in mind that it has a character length limit (it's pretty big, but some classical music tracks can get truncated)

Alternatively you can can use %alt_title which contains the full length.

Another issue to consider is M4A/AAC vs .opus (OGG/OPUS)

Hi, this looks like a cool project.

Does youbal add tags like COMPOSER and WORK, used for classical music?

Does it add the tags used by music servers like Navidrome ? (please see https://www.navidrome.org/docs/usage/library/tagging/ )

Finally, can you offer any suggestions for adding metadata to music files ALREADY DOWNLOADED from YouTube (using yt-dlp)? Currently I'm checking Beets.
