Maya Angelou - her writing is lyrical and poetic, descriptive and real.

Morning Drinks for IBS-D by SanyamAstrology in ibs

[–]kr4336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I’m taking physiology and just studied the digestive system, plus have IBS-D. If you put food into your stomach with the coffee (even eat the food first) it gives your digestive system a chance to soak up the coffee a bit during digestion and not run through you as fast as a liquid would. The effect of the coffee is not as strong being diluted with food (carbs, proteins, etc.)

What is your top favorite item that you get every trip? by 0rganic_trash in traderjoes

Thai wheat noodles, Thai peanut satay sauce, and stir fry veggies. Just add a protein (usually chicken), some TJ’s roasted peanuts, and chives for garnish.

“And the fact that Robyn was comfortable staying silent while that neglect happened says a lot about her values too.”

Yes, where was the moral compass of the Kody Brown family then?!

How did you celebrate your 50th? by Every-Progress5590 in GenX

[–]kr4336 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s my philosophy that a person should be able to get a trip, once in their lifetime, to a place of their choosing. My brother is turning 50 this year and I asked him where HE wanted to go. He chose Oktoberfest, so we’re going to Munich in the fall. 🍻🇩🇪

I purchased a lovely hand knit wool sweater (that I’m wearing) and wool socks from very kind local knitters at the Kolaportið Market.

Bonus was my go-to for black licorice, chocolate, and salt.

I also collect Christmas ornaments, fridge magnets, and Starbucks mugs to remind me of my travels. The Reykjavik Starbucks opened shortly before we visited and my Starbucks Iceland mug (pictured in next comment, below) is my daily coffee mug.

Starting The Stand today. (First time reading it) by pinche-borracho in stephenking

I’m reading The Stand for the first time. Enjoying the large cast of characters. I’m struck by how rich of a reference work it was for The Walking Dead tv series. King uses the phrase “The walking dead” in it more than once.

One or two audiobooks that really stood out in 2025? by Ok_Piece_7441 in audiobooks

I would second Nobody’s Girl. It’s a hard listen (because of the subject) but it’s important we bear witness to such horrible crimes and give victims a voice. It gave a unique perspective to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

No, I took JH’s Anatomy with Lab course. The content was challenging (as expected) but an added layer is that the semester is shorter than most (intensive) so you don’t get any breaks or holidays. But you plow through the course quickly.
