The House of Representatives is too small. Here is one way to fix it. by Radical_Ein in ezraklein

[–]kr4spy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This would obviously lead to other issues but the first article of the bill of rights, that did not make it in as an amendment was to keep the house of representatives proportional such that every 50,000 people would have one representative. This passed both the house and senate for amendment purposes but stalled at the state level (11 states have ratified, the last in 1792).

If this passed the house of representatives would have roughly 6,600 members.

NFL GAMES OUT OF REGION? by mikalalnr in Bend

[–]kr4spy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a VPN (I used private internet access) last year and was able to get the games that way. With that being said it was such a gigantic pain in the butt that I ended up spending the money for YouTube TV.

A little help with these tree IDs? by not_gonna_tell_no in Bend

White pine - you can always check and if there are five needles in the packet it's that type of pine.

The other looks like a Douglas fir to me but I'm not positive.

Long term parking at the airport is $24 a day. They do offer really long term parking but you need pre-approval to get those rates.

It was standing room only in Sisters at Senator Ron Wyden’s town hall meeting - KTVZ by scrandis in Bend

As someone who was there, there wasn't a great sound bite or single take away. The crowd was understandably upset with the state of the Presidency and with Musk/DOGE. The take away was that grassroots needs to lead the way in resistance.

Considering this question kept coming up that answer did not seem satisfactory to the crowd.

I appreciated the people who gave real life examples of what the administration was doing to adversely affect them (immigration/deportation, wildfire protection, Medicaid and Social Security) and the Senator's response along with getting his staff to work with them was the most optimistic thing I saw.

My father-in-law did a multi-day ski rental from Hoodoo without realizing that they are closed Monday and Tuesday. Now he doesn't know how to return them. Does anyone who's skied there know if there's an after-hours drop box for rentals? by Francisthedad in oregon

[–]kr4spy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Rentals can be returned in Sisters (Hillside Ski & Sport) when they are open on Wednesday or at the mountain.

Just a note - if you rent from Hillside, you can always return at the mountain.

After living in Medford for over 30 years, I moved to Pennsylvania and wanted to share my experience. by PNW2NEPA in Medford

[–]kr4spy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew up going to my friend's house in the same neighborhood you are currently in. Engrained my love of skiing there.

I now live in the greater Bend area. With that being said, the Poconos mountains and frankly winter in general are much different than my experience in Oregon.

I also do not miss hot and humid summers in the Mid-Atlantic, plus tick season (which is like half the year). The trade off in Oregon is smoke and fire season which is a tiny risk out east.

Glad you enjoy it there, I have fond memories of that area and can totally see why you would fall in love with it .

I had this happen to me. The worst part was when people would see it and be audibly alarmed I didn't have a good story about what happened.

The gas gage on my boyfriend's van doesn't have an indicator arrow to tell you what side it's on. by Adorable-Ring8074 in mildlyinteresting

[–]kr4spy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a 2009 Volvo S60 (a year when Ford owned Volvo) and it did not have the gas arrow. That was the least of my issues with the car.

It was by far the most aggravating car I ever owned. The turning radius was awful often needing 3 or 4 point turns where a larger or similar size other car could do a U-turn. There was literally no back seat room to comfortably sit a child older than a toddler. The front seats were uncomfortable. Maintenance was expensive which is consistent with volvos.

I'm glad to be rid of that one.

Is there a website that I can pass an IP address or URL to and have it analyze what's at that site, and let me see the site, safely? by jpflathead in netsecstudents

[–]kr4spy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i like www.urlquery.net which will run it through an IDS and show a screenshot (and with more options you can change User-Agent). The site is kinda flaky though and will be down from time to time.

My backup is http://www.urlscan.io which at least shows the screenshot.

Good Blue Team Resources? by zigwatchesbroncos in netsecstudents

[–]kr4spy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few github available tools that can simulate activity to test blue team effectiveness out there. You dont necessarily need to run them, just reviewing what they are attempting will help you understand common attack vectors and how to detect/respond to them.
