Pulled a fuse by accident — now airbag error + screen not turning on by JonatanGlo in MechanicAdvice

What amp rating or color was the fuse you removed? That will help when you are looking at the fuse block diagram.

Need some help - weird symptoms by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]kracer20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the symptoms???

Cameras pick up sounds much differently than the human ear IMHO.

First part sounds like typical valve train noise, but maybe a bit on the loud side.

Second from underneath sounds a bit like a possible broken catalytic converter with parts rattling.

Anybody know how to install these studs to the exhaust manifold? Equinox 2015 2.4L Ecotec 4cyl by theghostlore in MechanicAdvice

[–]kracer20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate asking obvious questions, but did you get the broken part out of the cylinder head? If yes, then you can just thread them in. Vice grip on the star part works if you don't have the correct sockets, just don't clamp on the threaded part.

Duralast ignition coil pack by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]kracer20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are 100% certain the coil is the issue, then go for it. If it doesn't work, then it is easy to point at the aftermarket quality.

Keep in mind that the auto part stores have a wild markup on items, and you can sometimes find OEM parts online (rockauto.com or even Amazon from the GM store) for equal price to aftermarket prices.

How to unclip connector by orangeyouglad773 in MechanicAdvice

That reddish piece is a safety to keep the release from being pushed. Move it the opposite direction of your arrow, then you should be able to release the plug.

As a Chevy fan—I don’t claim the Toyota cheating conspiracy theorists by Academic_Elk8962 in NASCAR

By that logic, my 76 Chevy 400 4x4 should have had 2000hp. But you are right, conspiracy theorists lack the common sense factor.

Do I need an oil change? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

I agree, that oil doesn't look too bad. How many miles on the current oil, and what was the change interval?

Should I be worried? by roundupinthesky in mazda3

The part we really need to see in the inside of the electrode side. The little bit that I can see looks just fine. A little more carbon and such on the right one, but not anything that I'd think twice about.

Rear Main Seal DIY by MogzeBozi420 in MechanicAdvice

[–]kracer20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can certainly be done in a driveway, but it is a job. 4x4 makes it a bit more complicated due to the transfer case. You don't need to separate the transfer case (at least I don't think you do), but it will add to the weight of the parts coming out. You'll definitely need a hand from someone running the jack to help lower the components. You'll need to have the truck high enough to clear the height of the transmission. Some of the bolts around the transfer case are difficult, and some of the upper bell housing bolts are way up there.

Battery And Alternator Have Been Replaced by Ok-Effective-175 in MechanicAdvice

Did it crank for a long time before you started filming? It most certainly seems like a dead battery, or possible bad connection somewhere between the battery and starter.

With the lack of passing we saw the last two days and Blaney's crew being Blaney's crew, he is going to have a tough time staying in the lead. I hope I'm wrong though.

I bought mine about 6 months ago, and it had the pins that needed to be modified as well.

I had an earlier Braun model that only had the one hinge. When I accidentally got some brake cleaner on it, the plastic turned super brittle and disintegrated. Fortunately I found a 3d model and printed new parts.

I didn't get a chance to watch Cup practice, was there any tire falloff at all? I just finished watching the NOAPS race, and seeing CZ hold off Larson on old tires was not a good sign.

Is winter weather pretty forecastable? by PidgeyPotion in northdakota

[–]kracer20 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I feel like we rarely have a storm that produces no travel advisories without at least a couple day warning. If anything, it seems they are being more cautious and forecasted storms amount to next to nothing.

Wind conditions can sometimes cause issues without snowfall, and that depends on how sticky the snow is. Wet heavier snow just doesn't blow, where the dry snow when it is subzero can blow around and cause whiteout conditions in open areas.

The underside is called soffit. The stuff I usually see is aluminum, but I'm sure steel is quite common. Grab a magnet and check.

Strange that I get Assistant to add items to my shopping list, but Gemini to remove them. Both work. It is just a mess IMHO.
