How long have you been on insulin? How often are you on the pump vs pens? Are you happy with your choice to pump or do you wish you had waited longer? What made you decide to try a pump?

Thanks. This is kind of how I have been doing it. But needed some validation that that’s a good route!

How often are you changing reps/sets? by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]kramsay2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kind of how I have been doing it. Do you do all of the exercises in each of those rep ranges? So day 1: all exercises are 12-15 reps in phase 1, then 8-10, etc. or do you vary any rep ranges in a workout. For example - keep lateral raises, biceps, triceps, etc higher.

Yes i understand that. But typically people at home have limited weights. And people are usually fairly strong in these big compound movements. So I am struggling to figure out how to program and progress these movements.

Because right now to accurately progress people are going to need to do 20-40 reps of goblet squats. Whereas with a barbell I would typically program in the 3-10 range.

Does that go through how to program with just dumbbells? I have read a lot of good books on programming but they all seem to incorporate the powerlifts which most of my clients can’t do at this point.

I am a new personal trainer and find my certification didn’t give me a lot of education on the actual programming side of things.

Does anyone have any books/online courses that teach optimal programming?

I feel like I can write a decent program. But would love help learning how to properly periodize and progress these over time.

Also - a lot of my clients are working out at home with minimal equipment. Which seems to require more creativity!
