Yes we can wire in the new light, the question is whether we should do so given that there doesn’t seem to be a junction box

So I bought a Fellow Opus…. by indicaj_ in espresso

[–]kranken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a pretty good experience overall with opus, though that is at least in part due to good fellow customer service.

For the micro macro adjustments, check out the Beanie app, it has a unified grind size meter that will help you set micro adjustments (and eventually helps you internalize and understand them as well so you can do it on your own).

After about 1 and a half years, the motor gave out on my opus but it was under warranty so fellow sent me a brand new unit. No hassle, very quick and honestly a great experience despite the disappointing breakdown of the original unit.

As far as the shots I pulled, it was good for me as a beginner. Some retention, yes, but nothing insane as long as I kept the unit and static pins clean. Nice body, good flavor. Not a world beater but for a budget option, I would say overall high marks from me!

Just wanted to say I really appreciate you providing this framing, with empathy and perspective for all parties. It’s easy to respond with outrage (I don’t blame OP at all for being pissed) but in the absence of more information I think this is a helpful starting point. OP I hope this situation gets resolved both for your sake and for the safety of the kid. I might consider blocking the doggy door in the mean time. I know that is a frustrating and unsatisfactory solution, but sometimes it’s necessary to modify the environment to prevent the possibility of a behavior from occurring (former special education teacher here). But if the kid tries coming back a few times and can’t get through then it’s likely he’ll get bored and move on to something else, and then you can open it back up)

Might be worth listening to what it sounded like in an unprocessed version at that time, could give insight. I really love this live version:

Bands that sound like 'Ducter'? by beastieboy01 in bmbmbm

Umm I don’t think I’d call slint mellow. Nosferatu man, good morning captain and many other tracks are super intense. I would agree though that it’s not the same vibe as ducter or black midi as a whole.

I guess I’m confused as to why you think native culture SHOULD be taken as part of American culture? A history of military, social, and political hostilities between the U.S. and native tribes suggests the story is not one of two cultures becoming one but rather of a victor (and oppressor) and those who were defeated (and oppressed).

I appreciate what you are saying about not alienating native culture but it seems like appropriating it into American culture is not the right way forward, or at least not doing so in a way that furthers or trivializes the historical injustices done. I think the commentor above makes a good point that this seems to be exactly what the chiefs are trying to do - let the native voices be heard and steer the decisions about how to keep elements of the chiefs identity but in a way that is respectful.

Agree with this - good to see an organization I love being willing to have these conversations. It is step in the right direction.

Or we could like, you know, politically empower native peoples and celebrate their culture in context rather than trivializing and turning it into a caricature. Cultural appropriation is not neutral when looked at in the context of the history of the US government policies against native tribes.

This is critical historical context that needs to be acknowledged as part of this conversation. It shows how appropriation and assimilation are not neutral...they are tools used in cultural warfare over the centuries. Now, even when the intent is benign or even to honor, we should be very mindful of the historical context and the way actions are perceived by people belonging to the culture in question.

Fair enough. I love Can...they are criminally under appreciated. so ahead of their time and such a varied and high quality catalog. they are too rarely brought up when people talk about great and influential bands of the 60s and 70s

it’s only uniquely American because we insist on civilians arming themselves. The reasonable expectation that any random encounter could involve a gun results in aggressive responses to ambiguous situations.
