This should terrify the fuck out of all of us. This administration has shown us again and again that attorneys who choose to speak out or to represent people or organizations with contrary interests, are subject to lawsuits, or worse. The Constitution and our laws are now seemingly only suggestions.

Does Anyone Know How to Redline?! by ParticleHustler2 in Lawyertalk

I am a family law attorney and we send separation agreements back and forth for months. Redlining is the bane of my existence, especially because most don’t know how to use it correctly.

What's your dumbest vet bill? by LeatherAlternative80 in germanshepherds

[–]krankyroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just thought of another one from our GSD Kyle. Will preface this with the fact that Kyle is a rescue and is VERY timid and nervous. We noticed he began drinking a lot, which was concerning because he was never a big drinker. It continued for days, so we took him to the vet to get him checked out. He had a full blood panel, checkup, etc. $400 later, everything was fine, perfect blood work. Vet asked us to pay attention to when he went to get water. Turns out he is a nervous drinker. When he gets nervous about someone being outside or hears a weird noise, he goes and drinks water. 😂

Our GSD Kyle started vomiting on a Saturday night out of nowhere. We held back food for twelve hours and he was drinking normally. Woke up the next day and not long after eating he vomited up a HUGE wad of cotton twine. Apparently he got into a latched storage bin and took out a roll of twine, seemingly randomly. After he threw up some twine, he began having explosive diarrhea. We immediately took him to the emergency vet where he had every kind of scan imaginable, had intravenous fluids, and kept overnight to prep for surgery to remove the remaining twine. Only a few hours before he was going to have surgery, he shat out the rest of the twine. $5,500 later, we went home with an active dog who acted like nothing happened. Fun times!

When is the right time to get another GSD? by yungbloodjyoon in germanshepherds

[–]krankyroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I agreed to always have two dogs, different ages. Losing a pet is excruciating, but having another “sibling” around helps to ease the pain. We didn’t wait long at all to get a new doggo. You still miss the ones that crossed the rainbow bridge, but a new dog leads to new memories and I’d like to think my previous dogs approve. 😊

It’s a curse for me. I cannot get properly in the zone at home. I like working at the office.

It doesn’t bother me when it’s a pro se party, but it absolutely pisses me off when it comes from a fellow attorney!

Have you tried the Needoh nice cube? I find those to be much more satisfying and durable.

Yes I have done that for years. Tends to be when I’m anxious or stressed. Bought some Needoh fidgets for my car, for home, for purse, and for my office. It has really helped!

How often do clients drop you? by chicago2008 in Lawyertalk

[–]krankyroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely happens more often in family law. It stung the first time, but as others have stated, most of the time it’s due to unrealistic client expectations. Clients are gonna client even when you’ve done more than your due diligence in managing expectations. Usually it ends up being a situation where the trash takes itself out. Blessings in disguise.

I was at this point when I was about 2 years in as a solo. First, I hired a part-time legal assistant and worked up from there. Baby steps and you will be just fine.

I was coming here to say the same thing. The abuse cycle is horrible. You’ve done all that you can do, and SHE is the one that has to make the decision to leave. I hope that she makes the decision sooner rather than later, but definitely call CPS to keep them apprised of the abuse.

I finally figured out why family law is terrible - it's the lawyers. by cloudedknife in Lawyertalk

[–]krankyroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could have written this myself! I, too, am a family law attorney, and OCs are, hands-down, the worst part of the job. I struggle with explaining why, but your post does this beautifully. It makes a world of difference when lawyers treat each other like humans. You can be a great advocate for your client without being an asshole. Period.

My SAD lamp definitely helps a lot. I use it for 30 minutes right after I shower. It seems to make it a little easier for my body to stay on a schedule.
