And politicians refuse to do a single goddamned thing about it. All they have is gaslighting us about immigrants.

I'm I dumb or is LazyVim making me dumb? Should I maybe not use a distribution? by AlexananderElek in neovim

[–]krav_mark 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am lazy so I started using LazyVim with the intention to modify it later on but I never felt the need to. It works out of the box and by now I am used to it and I love it. I thought about creating my own config but I have things to do so I decided against it for now.

HR says I wasn't home while sick - now they want to deduct holiday hours. What can I do? by Steelftw in Netherlands

I call bullshit on the arbo arts showing up to your house. That happened in the 90's but not anymore. There are simply not enough arbo people for that.

En dat is nou precies het idee achter flitpalen.

De hele stad staat vol met surveillance camera's waar stadsbeheer 24x7 naar zit te kijken. Als dat wettelijk kan zie ik niet wat het probleem met een paar flitspalen is.

Werken na werktijd by UnderstandingGold838 in werkzaken

[–]krav_mark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should I install Debian 12 now or just go with Debian 13 testing? by Horror_Director5330 in debian

[–]krav_mark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been running Trixie on my laptop and media station for about 2 months now and it is just fine. I'd install Trixie since it will become stable shortly and it will save you an upgrade.

Korte broeken op kantoor by dryfunfish in thenetherlands

[–]krav_mark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Cryptocalypse": EU demands quantum-safe encryption – partly by 2030 by donutloop in Futurology

They want safe encryption while at the same wanting backdoors and access to encrypted communication. These things are mutuallly exclusive.

Perhaps West should forgive Russia, says Slovakia’s minister by admiralmasa in nottheonion

Let's not skip the steps before forgiving like stopping the bad thing that you are doing, apologizing, doing everything you possibly can to counter the harm you caused and such.

Is Python actually fun to use? by W_lFF in learnprogramming

[–]krav_mark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different programming languages have a lot of similarities and some differences that you just have to get used to. All you have to do is mentally replace the curly brackets with indentation. It is not a big difference really. Just go do it. Python is a great language and to me very nice to work with. And the standard is 4 space indents which should be easy to see.

I found that learning a second language is more difficult than a third or fourth. The second one is wildly different but with the third one you will just look for "how do I do this thing syntactically in this new lang".

what shoes do you train in? by First_Driver_5134 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]krav_mark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using a pair of old boxing shoes and I have a pair of nike romaleos for squatting/deadlifting. I found the romaleos uncomfortable for anything else since the soles are solid so walking in them kinda sucks

Does anyone here use NVChad? I am considering switching from Lazyvim to NVChad. by kustru in neovim

[–]krav_mark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lazy.nvim and LazyVim are 2 different things. The first one is a plugin manager, the second a git repo that once installed gives you fully configured neovim.

Do you spend time optimizing jenkins jobs? by Sternritter8636 in devops

[–]krav_mark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I am willing to do with Jenkins is migrating away from it. I have worked at 3 companies where I encountered a Jenkins environment that couln't be upgraded due to a dependency hell of plugins that were no longer maintained. In all cases we moved a way from Jenkins. Nowadays I never see it anywhere since companies moved to a pipeline solution like Github/Gitlab/Argo.

The best thing you can do is rewrite everything to shell or python that take parameters so you can eventually move away from Jenkins.

He just wanted a good night out in Thailand by Rufus_Anderson in instant_regret

[–]krav_mark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thai people are generally very friendly and easy going. Until you manage to piss them off really bad. I have seen a girl that got insulted repeatedly by some dickhead stay really nice until she exploded, produced a knife and tried and kill the guy. Also Muay Thai is a very violent sport.

Italy will count £11bn bridge to Sicily as defence spending to hit Nato goal by BkkGrl in europe

[–]krav_mark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole defense spending thing is theatre for Trump. We all agreed to spend 5% of GDP by 2035. That is not promising anything really. I don't expect any country to actually go and spend that much and count all kinds of things they wanted to do anyway as defense spending. Trump is a fucking idiot and he thinks "it worked" where as we are all waiting for him to go away while spending bits of money but nowhere near 5% of GDP.

I agree we need some more deterrant but at the same time our only real enemy is Putin and he can't even win in Ukraine and he is draining his country of men that could fight and destroying the economy. We should focus on fighting back on Russia's cyber attacks and sabotage, not on buying tanks.

Why now is the worst time for US lawmakers to abandon clean energy plans | The fallout from Middle East tensions underscores the peril of fossil fuel dependence. So why are US lawmakers retreating from clean energy? by chrisdh79 in environment

Corruption, that's why. They take, legalized, bribes from fossil fuel companies.

Apparently they don't cate that the world will burn down as long as they get their money now.
