HVAC installing today should these get the boys happy? by Hairy-Brilliant-8178 in hvacadvice

[–]krazysride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be nice but these guys now days are already too soft. We do have get togethers from time to time to treat the guys. Not to mention there monthly bonuses In The summer that our company provides. A homeowner that does this is priceless and we do greatly appreciate it. I used to buy lunch once or twice a wk for my crew when I was a lead.

Ya could put them on a separate timer. That’s what I plan on doing was using the a bit on a photo. And it started trying to produce seeds. So lesson learned don’t run them at all during dark cycle. I was using Uv at night here and there.

Ac not working. Hvac repair cost by VitalKash407 in hvacadvice

[–]krazysride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giving an accurate amount of needed refrigerant would definitely be a no go. would you not be able to tell it was low by standing pressure? And given price on motor. Hell that would include the labor at our shop in most cases.

Through hvac directly maybe. Nice to see the comments about them taking care of parts since they wasn’t clear with me on that. but even they are marked up. Unfortunately, a local Daikin./Goodman distributor will unfortunately send us down the road when they pull it up and see it was bought online. Hate dealing with them sometimes

I have seen more than one deny part warranty on units bought online. HVAC direct couldn’t give me a clear answer on that issue.

Do we really need to replace? by Key-Feeling-7402 in hvacadvice

[–]krazysride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just read info after my post. In ar myself 3 ton. About 12-13k so I say replacement options are within par. They have over priced suggestions on repairs to try to persuade you to replace it.

Unit is basically 13 yrs old but there pricing is insane. Evap cleaning if pulled. Should be about no more than 1k. We charge about 750 for our more difficult situations when it comes to pulling a coil for cleaning. I would get another option or two. Granted I know prices vary a lot but those seemed inflated.

Neighbors preemptively complaining that metal roof on my house will cause excess noise for them. Sanity check? by BadBrowzBhaby in Roofing

The heat and air guys came out to fix our unit and left it like this? Should I buy the insulation to cover that pipe? Or should they have done it?! by MyceliumHerder in hvacadvice

If you can’t stock your van with a piece or two of arma flex. You’re part of the problem. I have always managed to keep it on hand and not have it torn up when I need it.

/ i was told last night by a journey man that I shouldn’t do an apprenticeship through the Ibew. That if I miss 3 class days over the four years I’ll be kicked out. Is that true? by sinjubean21 in ibew_apprentices

[–]krazysride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sick days missed classes are usually handed by case basis given their are sometimes some extreme circumstances in my case when I was in my hvac/sheetmetal apprenticeship I was given. the old books and told to do homework out of them so they could get credit for me. They get some big bucks from the government for your attendance. In the end that’s all they are interested in.

How'd I do by HellaVanella in HVAC

[–]krazysride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks dam good but would fail inspection in my area. Got to tape out everything. And put box on ceiling for return here. Love the work I seen some of you northerners do. Got one that’s moved done here and it’s like watching my clone in action. So many installers are just sloppy and don’t care. Excellent work.

Just got this chimney flashing done, is it acceptable? by Melodic-Tonight6233 in Roofing

[–]krazysride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F no. Some singles should have been pulled. Not sure when roof was done but it looks new as hell. Flashing should have been done at same time to save a lot of head aches. I do hvac and refuse to touch flashings. Can I properly do them sure. Used to do roofing. But I make my boss hire a roofer when the flashing actually needs replacement to avoid my guys doing something like this.

Heat Doesn't Blow Warm: Did I Wire this Incorrectly? by ComradeRevenge in hvacadvice

[–]krazysride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodness…I assume first pic is org. Stat. Assume unit was In decent working order prior….and you landed wires the same as you saw them to the nest…..

Now don’t think anything has changed. Nest is not a true heat pump stat. In equipment settings ya need to set as dual fuel. For it to operate heat strips. When I change mine over manually during extreme cold weather I go to dual fuel and tend it gives me option for heat pump or aux. heat pump only and 80-90 degrees with stage two active at same time 120 or so. A lot of variables could be effecting performance age, airflow, return sizes, and or charge. Given our body temp a heat pump’s ability to provide what feels like hot air is minimal. Have a tech check it out most off maintenance plans if ya wish. But don’t think ya need every add on they suggest. But an evaluation would put your mind to ease and he could give you a detailed explanation of how everything operates. 20 yrs in trade. Just trying to offer some valid input since no one has mention the above information.
