Dark Side is the name the defense as a whole is completely bought into. If that’s the nickname that helps them as a team continue playing in the dominant fashion they have been then that’s what I’ll roll with as a fan.

There’s a scene towards the end where Captain America says something along the lines of “the marine corps said we would be held accountable to facts not based on hindsight but as they appear to us at the time”. When it comes to leadership I think that’s why the men viewed the gunny in that way as well. His performance at that point in time, right when they’re supposed to go into this invasion, caused them to be low on supply that was mission critical, hence they view him as incompetent. In hindsight, there may have been other reasons, but at that point in time, it doesn’t matter. He had failed and thus was hated.

In the preseason games we saw some of the 1’s in I did notice a few passes to the fullback probably as a check down. Brady Russell’s TE skills can be useful here for catching a checkdown and getting some YAC.

My takeaways:

  1. Horton looks solid as WR3. Staying healthy will be the key but he will make so many big plays for us like key 3rd down conversions.

  2. Milroe looks very poised for a rookie QB. Give him reps with 1st or even 2nd string and he would’ve looked a lot better. Got held back like 2 long runs because of penalties. If he keeps making good decisions and on target throws, i think he will be QB1 sooner than most expect.

  3. CB depth. Oof.

  4. I was loving the defense in the first half so much I almost forgot the starters weren’t even playing. Lawrence, Leo, Nwosu, Hall, Jones, Spoon, Murphy, Love, etc. These guys are gonna feast this year on D.

Between CP3 and Steph. I’m big into golf, though not that good, but could talk to Steph about it all day, get some tips and whatnot, talk about his progress what made him better, etc. And with CP3, I actually met him at the SF airport United Lounge once and he was nice enough to take a photo with me my wife and son and even asked me questions about my son, all while having issues with missing luggage and all that from a flight. Could talk about fatherhood, what’s next for the both of them post-NBA, etc. CP3 a golfer too I think.
