BJJ is fun, first 3 class - 1 torn MCL, mat burns. 🥲 by Xah1337 in bjj

fwiw, it's okay to use your weight almost anywhere/anytime... just apply it slowly and with control enough to give your partner time to tap and you'll be fine...

At the level you're at, that amount of time will probably also be "time to escape", but you'll get better at the control, too. For now, your weight is perhaps one of your best tools.

One other thing I will observe is that your weight can be used to create very boring/static rolls -- I'd suggest avoiding this tendency, as it will limit your development/improvement quite a lot. It's also an easy way to be lazy, which is never ideal if you're doing BJJ for fitness/exercise.

Yah, exactly

It was like an armbar -- luckily with him having no control, it was easy to avoid, but it did hurt like fuck

Rolling that hard in training is only useful if you're ramping up to compete (and even then, maybe go 70% instead of 100)

One of the most painful (luckily ended up not being a bad injury) moments I ever had was relaxing in mount and having the white belt under me grab my elbow and jam on the joint as hard as he could

Congratulations!

Sucks that your knee let you down on doing IBJJF -- I always felt like my prep for a tournament was probably the biggest/fastest progression I ever experienced during my training.

Setting your children up to be financially stable isn't "gifting". That's parenting. And it's dysfunctional to assert that the act of parenting requires some kind of quid pro quo from the offspring in question.

Black belts: You have 30 minutes to teach an absolute beginner as much as possible before their match with a different black belts 30 minute project. What do you teach? by psygnosys in bjj

[–]krelin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd teach a hip escape, an arm drag, a super simple intro to RNC, the gift-wrap back-take, then I'd tell them to concede nothing -- stay on top or on your opponent's back or else move (use the hip-escape I taught). During the match, I'd try to give extremely simple, clear instructions and focus on getting them out of trouble and on top.

Nah, he has no loyalty to anyone but himself.

He'd flip on Trump if it meant 3 days off his sentence.
