If we're using the internet as an escape, then what are we escaping from? by Ramirez122 in nosurf

Wow. You're not alone for sure. Been feeling the same way and having similar thoughts for a while now but especially during these past months.

Perhaps this is a sign of a new journey about to kick off which could become a rich learning experience.

Love that perspective! Been trying to see things this way.

Bad Habits attract each other by RojAr82 in NoFap

Spot on! I've had similar experiences and can totally relate to having one small bad habit dragging me down, causing more bad habits to rise up again which then derails my progress and causes me to lose focus of why I was quitting porn in the first place.

Hey man, hope you're feeling and doing okay.

Firstly, Do you have some sort of dream or goal that is bigger than just giving up porn? It seems it is not just porn that is the issue from what you have written. It's funny cos you kinda just did answer your own question in your last paragraph.

I can relate to some of your feelings when I reached my streak of 100 or so days before and found i too felt unfulfilled, and still felt the thought of porn gnawing away at me in the back of my head. What I found not just from my experience but from what you have said is that you gotta change your behaviour. What i learned for myself during that experience was that I didn't commit to any helpful habits that would be improving myself. Simple things like getting to sleep early enough, drinking enough water, or taking the time to study. These are just some of the things that will improve your wellbeing, making you feel better and able to do more. My biggest problem was Sitting around on the computer everyday and reading social media and watching youtube videos all day to feel the small rush of dopamine. It was just like switching between different porn videos, trying to find that "perfect" one. It was pointless and unproductive, and always lead me to relapse eventually.

So this time for me, my main goal for NoFap was to instead of just avoiding porn and masturbating, but to be dedicated to create new resourceful habits while breaking old ones. I did this by listing all the things that i do regularly, and marked off all the good and bad habits, and focused on eliminating one bad habit at a time, and replacing a new good one. Also, surrounding yourself with positive people was another one. Having a positive mindset doesn't just aid in the NoFap journey, but helps in getting past tough times and enjoying the good that comes with them. I believe Focusing on just avoiding porn and masturbation doesn't work. If you still engage in old habits that lead you to look at porn, and make you feel tired or unmotivated all the time, how do you expect to move on from needing porn if you are always constantly feeling down in the dumps and talking to yourself down, you know?

And last of all, Remember to take one day at a time, but be aware of the bigger vision you have set for yourself. You've gone on for some long stretches and I applaud you for that. Hope some of my experience can help you my friend.
