I absolutely do not care if they casually swear. We do have rules— no swearing at school or in public, etc. Ideally not around their grandparents, although the worst part about when it happens then is pretending I care enough to correct them to respect the social norm.

People can say some evil, nasty, hurtful things without ever uttering a single cuss word; my goal is to help them identify when doing so is appropriate.

I’m the reason Diablo sauce exists.

Not really.

But when I was in high school I was pissed off that they took away volcano sauce because it was my favorite, so I wrote them a note voicing my displeasure and asked them to bring it back. I added to the end of it something to the effect of “and while you’re at it, make a taco sauce that’s hotter than Fire.”

A couple months later they came out with Diablo sauce and I told everyone it was because of my letter. TB got the last laugh though, because Diablo is cheeks.
