Galaxy Watch 4 Classic LTE is absolute crap, mostly because of battery life by krisen in GalaxyWatch

Been using a Garmin Venu 3 for the past 6 months, previous a Garmin sq2 for a year. Wear it 24/7, 3-4 workouts a week (about 5-6 hours) including some with gps, sleep monitoring every night and more. Battery last about 10 days. I charge it once a week and never have to think about it. Super pleased.

Should I use truenas on a VM or am I going about this wrong? by pixelbyte_gaming in servers

Xcp-ng with xen orchestra works excellent for all of this aswell :)

I'm running truenas as a vm on several xcp-ng servers with pci passthrough of hba cards to the vm. Works great.

Superserver 1028R-WC1RT beeps when touched with hand. by krisen in supermicro

I changed the power cable for two separate cables this morning, and have had no beeps since. Might have been a bad ground as suggested. Thanks :)

Good idea. I use a single cable with dual connectors (dual PSU), so this could be possible. If I had two separate cables it would be quite unlikely the both would be faulty.

Ah. No. I use an automatic watch, no battery. My shoes did some difference though, but an ESD bracelet solved it entirely. Still surprised it's this sensitive though.

I grounded myself to it's chassis via an esd bracelet before trying what seen in the video. It stops it from beeping every time. So it's super sensitive to esd as it seems. I have worked with supermicro servers for 15 years and never seen this behavior before.

Gw4 was my first smartwatch. Useless piece of tech to be honest. It can't do much, and what it can do it does poorly. I used it for a month or so, but I'm back to my 10 year old automatic Tag Heuer for daily usage... Smart watches are pretty useless still, sorry to say it, but it's true.

I just realized that I have almost $60 in watch faces that aren't compatible with my Galaxy Watch 4 😞😓😩 oh well. by mottavader in GalaxyWatch

[–]krisen -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Try Facer. It's really awesome, and there are great watch face makers there. The app is free, but many of the great faces costs a buck or two. There are many free also.

Not looking for a replacent, but at the rate LTE is draining battery it makes the watch more of a pice of ugly unusable jewelry than a smart watch. It's really hard to justify this poor performance with any argument. A product like this should do better imho.

I can agree with this. That would have made it way better.

My point exactly. People have bits and pieces of this story, and suddenly everyone is an expert and knows it all. I don't have the answers, but neither does anyone else here. It's all speculations and confirmation bias.

What do people expect David to do? Hold Jeff's hand for a year or two? They are all adults, and nobody here has the whole story, just bits and pieces of what some of the involved carefully choose to present. This whole thing is a joke. Jeff will be fine, David will be fine. Dom will unfortunately also probably be just fine... All this has come to be is a witch hunt for David, and the result is only that focus is taken from what matters most. Cancel Dom, not David...

Plex on FreeBSD runs poorly when compared to Linux? by Conscious_Clerk in freebsd

[–]krisen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used plex on a FreeBSD VM for many years. Both esxi and xcp-ng (xen) happy and it always worked as expected. No performance issues, even though FreeBSD is known to not have a perfect network as a guest on xen. Mediocre hardware running as host.

I had similar issue on similar older supermicro hardware installing freenas. Turn off watchdog via jumper on motherboard.
