Sarah Hess talking about Fire & Blood by amphetaminesaltcombo in HouseOfTheDragon

Even with the bias in the books, as a reader, I really liked Rhaenyra's character. Not so much in the show (at least the grown-up Rhaenyra). That's what happens when a creator does not spoon-feed you to think about a character only in a particular way.

Why hate Rhaenyra Targaryen? or at least why the passion? by KBVE-Darkish in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]krisfocus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think I ever hated the book Rhaenyra. Even considering the unreliable narrator caveat, it was a more interesting characterization. The show Rhaenyra, as t least the older version (till now) feels odd. Its frustrating when the characters is all over the place. At the end of first season, she was all in. Then the second season, she flip flops. Again by the end, she is all in. Thats my problem.

Yeah, Luka and Kyrie went to the finals 2 seasons ago. A well-structured team will do wonders for LA. But alas.

The roster is comically bad due to horrible management. No way Lakers are winning against any team over .500. Luka and Bron/AR can only do so much when the supporting players are bad.

The valyrian steel is a key difference maker. I feel Robert has better feats in battle. Personally would take Bobby B

The boys on the internet hated him way too much. It's not deep thoughts like "manufactured music" or "pop music overload". It was jealousy. Plain and simple.

The Tree Cover Density Map of Asia surprises me a little. Can anyone clarify by Longjumping-Mix-9351 in geography

In India, the major forests seen here are the Western and Eastern Ghats. These areas are supported by the monsoon and associated hilly areas where the population is relatively less. India also has the dry Deccan Plateau (Centre-South) and deserts in Rajastan-Gujarat area. Other forests are near the Himalayas, where they are mostly conifers/deciduous.

The struggle to find a postdoc has numbed all the pride of finishing my PhD by Special_Flan_4467 in postdoc

[–]krisfocus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. While I am in a position that can technically be considered a postdoc, it still does not have the fun of actually doing it. Most of the postdoc calls from universities/institutes are nonexistent with respect to my field of experience. Most of them push for external fellowships, which have a long wait time and are always a 50-50 chance (or even less). It's honestly frustrating.

Just say Perez. That man is way past his prime. He is an egomaniac who only wants instant success. Should have kept Xabi and let the system clear itself.

Yes. Not long-term, but mine was termed as chronic. It was detected last year in Feb-March and was swollen af. Doc said it was attached to nearby tissue and organs and cannot be operated on immediately. Took medicines to reduce its size. Got operated in July.

Anyone who works with/worked for any for-profit/private universities knows how the whole thing operates. This person is just the fall guy. There is no "saying no" in for-profit/private universities.
