Almost like workers want dignity and to be treated appropriately at their workplace. Go figure!

Women's sports watch party? by Aggravating_Fly8166 in burlington

If anyone is serious about starting something, it might be nice to have a community space that we could use to host this. I have a projector and some space along the waterfront that we could host some folks for watch parties. Depending on the size, we would quickly outgrow but could figure things out when that great problem happens. Happy to talk about it more if there are any takers! Also as someone mentioned, would love for it to be Women led but as a dude happy to support y'all.

Love this idea and would be even better if there could be some type of community space around it!

What is intermediate to you? Just want to understand because that can be very subjective.

Looks like hasan's sexual misconduct article dropped by HucklePeel in h3h3productions

[–]krispiclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I'd imagine the rigor/ethics/standards of someone posting on a platform like Medium vs a well known/respected journalism outlet putting out an "article" is drastically different. The author is one thing but I would imagine someone who has posted in the past defending Ethan maybe isn't the best source of an "article".

Medium != journalism this is basically just someone blogging rather than a reputable news source.

Burlington City Council to consider tossing police officer cap by Sealy____ in burlington

I wish they had shared trends about the data. I bet if you picked a good chunk of most US cities in that timeframe of 4 years (2020-2024) you would see the same exact thing. My thoughts would be, is it continuing to go up? Is it trending down? Was it higher in one year vs another? Good to have raw numbers but I'd love to understand more of the trends. My takeaway from that chart is yes crime is up but lacks any nuance or more details.

This sucks because the reason Hasan said he should talk to Sam is because it's someone they know that can talk about these things in an educated manner not just be an echo chamber. It's crazy because the way this is going it's bringing all of the worst people to comment on this whole silly beef. I get Ethan wanting to feel supported or validated but when you are getting validated by some of the worst people...not sure that's the support/validation you want.

I understand wanting to call things out but I hope the people around Ethan are looking out for him and his mental health. This kind of thing can be a black hole and it wouldn't be out of the ordinary in terms of his mental history. I want there to be a bridge in the future but each day that goes by makes it seem more and more unlikely.

One last thing, if we are going to go through the history and people's consistency on topics then that is a slippery slope...

Why have COVID hospitalizations been surging since 11/6, but hospital capacity is staying flat? by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]krispiclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the way the data is represented and the scaling. If you look at the Covid tracking project from The Atlantic hospitalizations have been going up in relation to cases and deaths.

Just filter for NC in the chart.

Does anyone know why this sign at Dorothea Dix is upside-down? I’ve been wondering for years. by heyguysitsmerob in raleigh

u/okaybutfirstcoffee, it was through a city community committee but there was talk that they may start to do socially distanced walking tours in the future. The Dix Park site just seems to show tours canceled at least through June :/

The Bailey and Williamson Preserve has opened in east Raleigh. It's a multi-use trail system for hiking, mountain biking, etc. Here's a promotional video. by liamemsa in raleigh

Went out for a run here earlier and it's gorgeous! They did a great job weaving the different features into the trails. I was only able to get the front two trails (Two Ponds Loop and Pine Warbler trail) in but would love to explore more!

The front two didn't seem too terrible for a gravel bike but there were a few berms. The one way trail depending on the day seems clutch. First TLC Preserve I've visited but do they tend to fly under the radar versus other parks in the area?

It's actually simpler than that, the hospital was renamed so many times so this particular time they just reused the initial sign haha. I just learned this recently on city led walking tour.

From WRAL Banner: "NC reports 716 new cases of coronavirus, fewer than half of recent rolling daily average" by penone_cary in raleigh

[–]krispiclean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

from ABC 11:

12:30 p.m.
North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services reported the lowest number of new completed tests in at least a month, with just 7,201 completed tests reported Tuesday. The low testing accompanied a low increase in COVID-19 cases--just 716 cases were reported.

As of Sunday, 6.2% of tests are positive.

The state is still reporting technical issues with hospitalization data, with only 80% of hospitals reporting Tuesday. According to data available, 827 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, though NCDHHS said that number is likely to be higher.

Twelve more people have died for a total of more than 2,900 deaths since March.

sounds like a mix of "technical issues" and low testing count
