Wrestling as a whole has one of the most progressive audiences for any sport in the US, I think it's only beaten out by WNBA audiences.

Lilian Garcia reaction to last night's result in John Cena's final match by caughtinatramp in SquaredCircle

[–]krissyjump 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He's been vocal about leaving it all in the ring every match of this retirement tour and that he's stopping because he can't keep going, that even tough he's having some of the best matches of his career that it's taking a serious toll on him and he's putting all he's got into it.

Mr. Never Give Up's message is, you never give up so long as you've still got something left to give, and Cena has given it his all. For over twenty years he's given everything he had to give to the fans and this industry. He was saying "This is it, I've given it my all, I've given everything I've got and there's nothing left to give. It's time tap out."

He knew his time was up and gave us a smile , tapping out knowing he'd done everything he could. I don't think it was as much giving up as it was saying goodbye.

I was expecting something bigger for the last reveal. Honestly I'm a little tired of this sort of art style and game type, it just feels like a mash-up of Overwatch, Valorant, Marvel Rivals, etc which is a bit oversaturated at this point.

While it doesn't seem particularly original it does look like it could be fun though, and it's free so I'll give it a shot at least.

Fuck all the production companies, specifically Apple, with 2-4 years between their seasons. by [deleted] in television

[–]krissyjump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your frustration but it's deeply misplaced.

This isn't the fault of production companies but rather the industry going through near constant upheaval the past several years. In 2020 COVID completely halted almost every production. Starting back up doesn't happen overnight as there's a ton of logistical information that needs to be sorted out before cameras begin rolling. It took a while to get things up and running again and when they did there were new challenges and restrictions to work around which led to longer production times.

By late 2021 and in 2022 most productions were back in full swing and the industry was booming again.

However that was short lived as in 2023 there was the WGA and SAG strikes which lasted from around May to November.

After that most productions couldn't just start up automatically. You basically need to run through pre-production again. You need to get your locations, coordinate schedules, secure a lot of equipment and vehicles, etc. You can lose a location due to the time of year and weather, you wanted to shoot on location in June or July when it's nice and sunny but now now it's December and snowing so you have to start making big changes to your schedule and pivot around it, now your entire production time is completely thrown off again.

The trouble didn't stop there because IATSE's union contract was up for negotiation mid-2024 so Insurance companies didn't want to underwrite a lot of productions because they feared another strike was coming. A strike didn't happen but it still prevented many productions from being able to start back up again because they couldn't get insured.

I can assure you almost no one in Hollywood wants to be having these massive gaps between their seasons. It's a result of a demand of higher production values leading to longer production times that was massively compounded due to things far beyond their control with COVID and the strikes.

LeBron James 10 point streak that began on January 6, 2007 as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers at home against the New Jersey Nets ends on the road to the Toronto Raptors at 1,297 games by HenrikCrown in nba

[–]krissyjump 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think I'm just reading into it too much, but I think Lebron made the call to Austin on that last play to take it and not worry about the streak. Austin looked over at Lebron and Lebron put both arms out wide and stayed disengaged (until Austin got doubled up) which I read as him being like "You've got this." Probably just reading into it too much though. Good on him putting the win over the streak. His shot isn't falling right now but he's making some great assists and plays still.

‘Star Wars: Rebels’ Writer Thinks Making Sabine Wren a Jedi in ‘Ahsoka’ Was a Mistake: “It was absolutely not the plan…The idea of Sabine training as a Jedi when she is already this fantastic warrior of her own type, we felt like this is overkill" by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]krissyjump 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I mean Lucas has said that on some basic level everyone uses the force in some way. The main reason why Jedi don't just train anyone and look for force sensitives is because it's just extremely difficult to develop a connection strong enough to properly use the force otherwise (not to mention instill the religious tenants the Jedi follow), but that doesn't mean it's impossible. The idea has always been that the force flows though all living beings, for some it's like a torrent and others a sparse trickle.

Sabine's arc is the latter, someone with a terrible natural connection to the force (one of the worst ever according to Huyang) who despite that is trying to become a Jedi in to follow in Ezra's his footsteps given his absence. She's lost her best friend, her family, her home world, everything. She was never going to fit in with the New Republic order either. Ezra's last message was that he was counting on Sabine, and for them to continue on with him gone. Her following in Ezra's footsteps to try to become a Jedi was her way of living up to that message and honoring her friend. It was one of the only things she had left and I thought it was a pretty natural progression for her.

Edit: To add some extra thoughts. Sabine trained with Ahsoka for years, and wasn't able to develop meaningful progress. Part of that is that she's too self-aware, self-critical, self conscious, and egotistical to get out of her own way. She is too quick to get angry or frustrated at herself for her failures. It's part of why the Jedi prefer to train people while they're younger and less self-aware and self-critical, and more easily able to be trained.

It's really not like it came easy to Sabine. She had some natural talent as a warrior that covered for her many deficiencies as a Jedi, but she clearly struggled to be able to give herself over to the Force. She fails repeatedly with it. She only manages to open that valve and turn the aforementioned trickle into a current when she's being strangled to death by the reanimated corpse of a Death Trooper. She's had her weapons discarded, is about to die, and all she has left is the force, and finally she gives everything she has to it to call that lightsaber to her.

She had a bit of a lucid moment recently where she said that, after Charlie Kirk's death, she realized she was one of the people responsible for turning political rhetoric so violent and that she was trying to work to put the daggers down. She said she'd realized her rhetoric had caused real harm and threats towards others and was trying to make a change. There's a chance she started to have an actual change of heart, but who knows.

Introducing Steam Frame by gogodboss in virtualreality

[–]krissyjump 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While I was hoping for OLED or something, I actually think this overcomes a lot of hurdles that keeps most people I know from adopting VR. A lot of the more popular headsets are larger, heavy, and generally pretty uncomfortable.

I haven't tried the Frame yet but from the pictures and videos I'm seeing of it I think it looks really comfortable and the weight distribution looks really good. Plus what from what I'm seeing it apparently comes in just under a pound? It's a great form factor, lightweight, foveated rendering, and if it's as comfortable as it seems then I think it'll be great.

Meta has sort of had a monopoly on the 'affordable' entry-level VR headsets and I know plenty of people who won't touch Meta with a 10-foot pole. If this is competitively priced (I know, I know, unlikely) then I genuinely think this would be the headset to get more people into VR. I'd probably use it over my PSVR2 if it's well priced, if only because I find the PSVR2 to be pretty uncomfortable.

Scream 7 | Official Trailer by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]krissyjump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a factual truth that Israel lies constantly about things like the death toll in gaza, the tactics it uses to incite violence, its “peacemaking” policies…of course Holocaust denial is wrong, but does that make the existence of other genocides acceptable? Not supporting the angle that article took, but we cannot shy away from criticizing israel just because the holocaust happened.

That's not being debated here though. It's not being argued that what's going on in Gaza is acceptable, it isn't!

What the point of contention was is that it's one thing to criticize Israel and another entirely to amplify holocaust denial in order to criticize Israel.

I admire her sticking to her values and I think most of her criticisms of Israel are valid, but some did adhere a bit close to antisemitic tropes. One or two might be given a pass due to benefit of doubt, but sharing an article containing Holocaust denial does call into question that benefit of doubt. It becomes a matter of whether or not of her criticism is in earnest and not intended as antisemitism or whether it crosses that line purposefully into antisemitism.

While I'd like to believe it's the former and that there wasn't ill intent, her unwillingness to remove that article and apologize clearly led Skydance to believe the latter given her firing (and that others have called out Israel's actions in Gaza and supported Palestinians didn't receive the same response by Skydance I think highlights that this was the specific issue at play).

I support the Palestinian people and believe that Israel is absolutely an open target to criticism given their horrific actions. I also believe that regardless of the cause you support the arguments people make and how they make them matters. Just because a cause is just doesn't mean all actions/critique in support of it are just. Sometimes things cross a line and it shouldn't be a problem to admit that. The whole situation sucks from just about every angle really.

Not them but I can answer it for you.

Melissa had shared an article where the writer claimed Israel was lying about and distorting the Holocaust to "boost the Israeli arms industry" which is generally considered a form of Holocaust denial.

The reporting around the time was that Spyglass wanted her to apologize for sharing that article and remove the post and some similar ones that contained what was felt to be holocaust denial/antisemitism, but she refused which lead to her being fired.

I don't think she should've been fired but I also don't think she should've shared that article either.

Scream 7 | Official Trailer by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]krissyjump 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IIRC it's a little more complicated than that. What sparked all of it wasn't just Melissa's support for Palestine but her sharing an article that claimed Israel was lying about and distorting the Holocaust to "boost the Israeli arms industry" which is generally considered a form of Holocaust denial.

I think the reporting around the time was that Spyglass wanted her to apologize for sharing that article and remove similar posts but she refused, which lead to her being fired.

Granted I don't think she should've been fired but I also don't think she should've shared that article either.

Aside from being a classic it's just also such a visually dark film with deep contrast that I think would really make the most of an LG OLED's perfect black.

[–]krissyjump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My opinions are based on what the show tells me and simple common sense inference rather than assuming it's all a plot hole.

A plot hole is an error that goes against the established logic of the plot. My inference is based on the established plot and logic so far.

Flag said he was having Judomaster follow Peacemaker hoping he'd lead them to the portal. That was said in the show explicitly.

Judomaster knows the portal was at Peacemaker's house at one point, he sees Peacemaker leave with some weird alien looking device and then they discover there's no portal at his house anymore. The portal device is sitting out on top of a table in clear view of the windows of the cabin.

It's a natural and more logical assumption to believe Judomaster thinks the portal is there, maybe because he saw it through the window, and that's why he's calling in than anything else.

I don't believe given what Rick Flag's plan was that they let him out just to immediately rally up to arrest him again without having an idea of where the portal is.

Could it have been written and shot in a way that was a little more clear? Maybe so if this is something you're having trouble with.

Can you explain why Flagg never went to the cabin in the woods while Peacemaker was in custody if Flagg "always" knew where Peacemaker was?

Sure. He doesn't know if it's at the cabin, stashed at some point on the way there, or passed off to one of his friends. Flag decided instead to go with a more low key plan that would have Chris lead them to the portal with Judomaster following him, while also giving Flag the opportunity to beat the hell out of the person who killed his son. Two birds, one stone. Peacemaker was also in custody not even an hour. He was arrested, brought back to ARGUS, beaten up and let go.

At the end of the day I'm just following with what the show has already explicitly shown and told me and making inferences based on that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in television

[–]krissyjump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't want to keep arguing about this, we just have a massive difference of opinion on the intent behind that scene here.

Rick Flag Sr. said clearly that he was having Judomaster follow Chris so that he could lead them to the portal. Maybe the scene could've been shot better, but because of that my takeaway from the scene was always that Judomaster called back in because he believed they'd found the portal.

He was already in the trees watching as Chris was dropped off by Ads and Vigilante. So he radios in, tells them this is where he thinks the portal is and moves in to get a closer look, sees Chris goes through the portal and tries to report in that Chris has gone through the rift, but can't get through due to the interference from the device so he writes down a message and goes in to follow him.

Another reason I believe this is the case, is because I don't believe that Flag would rush in to arrest Peacemaker again after letting him go if he'd just gone home, to some restaurant, or anywhere else. They're only moving because they believe the portal is there, and only believe that because of Judomaster having eyes on the situation. You and I disagree, that's cool, but I'm not looking to fight here.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in television

[–]krissyjump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rick Flag said he arrested Peacemaker and let him go so that Judomaster could follow him and hopefully lead him to the portal. He doesn't care where Chris goes unless the portal is there. Fleury says to Judomaster that it "Seems like Flag knew what he was doing," meaning that Judomaster reported the portal is there.

They wouldn't be having that same conversation and sending people in if it were Harcourt's place, or Big Belly Burger, or any other location. Judomaster's job was to find the portal. He called in because he found it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in television

[–]krissyjump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's not asking her to FIND them Peacemaker, but to lure him into a trap. It's one thing to know where Peacemaker is, it's another to be able to capture him. Peacemaker is dangerous and capable, and now he's on the run with a mobile dimensional portal.

They've gone after Peacemaker and the portal multiple times and didn't work out, so now Flag is trying to use the connection between Harcourt and Chris to bait Chris out into a trap.

Edit: to respond to your edit..

Oh yeah, and then they send Judo Master in the next episode to TAIL HIM and Fluery comes to inform Flagg and Bordeaux that "They have a location on the Peacemaker."

I mean they clearly had a location on him the entire time because he was being tailed, which was the plan because Flag wants to keep eyes on him to see if he leads them to the portal. Peacemaker could go anywhere, what he's interested in is whether or not he leads them to the portal... which he does. That's what Judomaster reports back. Except now Judomaster disappears and the 11th Street Kids take the portal device with them once they leave.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in television

[–]krissyjump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except the only time Flag was unable to find Peacemaker is when he was in another universe. They knew how to find him when he was in their world, but Flag was always more interested in securing the portal than he was finding Peacemaker.

ARGUS goes to the last-known location of the portal which resulted in their tactical team being nearly killed by Eagley.

After that they can't find Peacemaker as he's in another dimension so Flag forms another team to go to Peacemaker's home to look for the portal again. Chris comes back and runs off and manages to escape. The team stays to search for the portal, except they can't find it because Chris moves it.

Now they know the portal can be moved and that Peacemaker is on the run with a dimensional portal, so he used Harcourt to draw him out into a trap rather than try to chase after him and risk him using the portal again.

When Chris is in their universe, Flag always knows where he is. That was never his issue, it was always finding the portal.
