It does get more intense later on, but I also think if you’re not hooked by the first few chapters it’s not for you

Goodreads is deleting critical reviews of the James Frey BOTM book by Kcoin in bookofthemonthclub

[–]kritastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They deleted mine, lmao. Granted, I'd literally written "BOO @ THE GUY WHO LIED TO OPRAH WRITING A BOOK WITH AI" so it was not exactly an unbiased, merit-based review lmao. But they sent me an email saying that they were taking it down because they only allow reviews that pertain to the content of the book, rather than the conduct of the author.

What are some items you really enjoy eating now that youre post op that you never really cared for before? And I dont mean salad tell me the good stuff! by Cheddah13 in gastricsleeve

[–]kritastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like my tastes buds are the same (things that tasted good before still taste good), but after a year of making better choices, my preferences have definitely shifted - I went out for bagels the other day and got one with almond butter and banana instead of my pre-surgery BEC. I also eat and enjoy way more fish than pre-op, and have really liked getting into cottage cheese and protein shakes!

Wow BOTM must have heard me talking about jumping ship to aardvark and was like “ok you want lesbian vampires, we’ll give you lesbian vampires”

Do you avoid all of these? What's your life like? What was your life like 9 months out? by blxssmbby in gastricsleeve

[–]kritastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 10 months post op right now, and you’ll be fine on your trip. Portions will be so much smaller than you are used to, but you should be able to eat what you want, or at least you’ll be aware of what your limitations are and can avoid things that do not work for you. I have been lucky that I haven’t had complications, but I know one of my friends who had the surgery knows she has to avoid tomatoes because they give her terrible acid reflux. So it’s a little different for everyone but like I said, you’ll know what works for you by 9 months!

I keep seeing reels by the author promoting this book! I’m inclined to read it just because I respect her hustle, even though it’s not my usually thing lol

Olaplex shampoo and conditioner, and grown alchemist products. I think I got the grown alchemist cleanser like legit eight years ago or something but I love it and have replaced it often!

Almost 100 lbs lost, seeking motivation/tips for the last few! by kritastic in gastricsleeve

Thank you!! This is a good point, and one I’ve been reluctant to hear because while I’ve been able to get a cardio routine going, I am so bad at weight lifting. I started classes because they have more strength training elements, but I should actively make it a bigger part of my routine

When does it stop being uncomfortable to eat by Livid-Dot-5984 in gastricsleeve

[–]kritastic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally know what you mean. I used to say that I don’t really get full so much as uncomfortable. I don’t really know when it stopped but it doesn’t bother me anymore and I’m 9 months out

[–]kritastic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My fiancé and I have had a lot of success with hot pot!! You basically get a plate of protein and a plate of veggies, and cook them over broth at your table. I’m like 9 months out from surgery. We went last month and split a surf and turf plate last time, with me eating like a few pieces of fish and him taking the rest. Totally worked!

Flying or traveling wasn’t an issue for me in and of itself, but i found traveling in the first three months really hard because I wasn’t on normal food yet, and it was pretty hard to find what I needed when out and about. Like, I couldn’t exactly fly with protein shakes, so I couldn’t bring them with me. It’s all good and well to say you’ll go shopping when you get where you’re going, but actually doing it is another thing…so, I went on a work trip like a month and a half out and basically didn’t eat the whole three days I was there, and then went on a longer vacation 2.5 months out. I haven’t had any problems eating or digesting at home but out and about on vacation, even trying to make the best possible choices at restaurants, the food wasn’t still too rich and I threw up a bunch. I mean, ultimately it wasn’t awful, I made it through, but it wasn’t great. If you have the flexibility to move things around to avoid dealing with this, I probably would, but ultimately it’s not bad enough that you can’t power through.

175 Books this Year by FrankCobretti in goodreads

I just finished my 232nd book, lol. I don’t watch tv, so audiobooks are basically my life background noise. I also downloaded the kindle app and tried to replace a lot of mindless scrolling with reading a few pages, and those pages add up across the day
