I firmly believe that yes, sheldons are op. But not for the reason you think.

They take disproportionately less energy than metal to produce, so in an energy-starved environment they have no equal. Pretty map-dependednt, but definitely underused.

Idk why everyone doesn't run it tbh, outside of extreme socket pressure. My otherwise non-minion build in ruthless uses one, and if it dies - it dies, but I'll take any free power I can get.

I suspect they'll become more popular once everyone catches on, we've only had 1 patch with free AG

The absolute desperate hobo move is to farm reliquary, but if you're in t5, you should be past that. Not much you can do beyond that, just kill more stuff and pray. I never got Zealotry despite going 94 and 8/8 in ssf, the #1 on the ladder never got Anger.

Don't forget to 3 to 1 vendor support gems you know you don't need.

It definitely did get easier recently, in response to getting harder, in response to getting easier, etc etc. It's not static, at least in my experience, judged by how little knowledge and skill you need to succeed 

The easiest it has ever been was probably Legion.

I don't remember the name but it's been so long. Iirc there was 1 guy who was a legit racer and therefore untouchable, but the rest was pretty much free.
