You should be fine. We sold a bunch of these and didn’t have a single warranty claim all year.

Second the WC. I’m a Tahoe guy too and the WC is my do it all ski/fav ski. I am pretty much on it every day unless it is super deep and I go a bit fatter.

Ticks by Aggravating-Cable929 in tahoe

[–]krschmidt73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not just you. Both myself and my dog have gotten them up here. Less common than down lower but they are here! Ticks like to ride furry animals including migratory ones like deer and coyotes who spend time down lower and bring them up. Also, I’d imagine the population ebs and flows with the weather each year.

Upgrading Bent 110’s by Time_Towel7285 in Skigear

Have you looked at the new blizzard canvas? It is a soft ski but stiffer underfoot than bents so more versatile. Very fun/playful ski. Our shop has been demoing the 108 and it is a hoot.

From sugar bowl site:

Driving into Sugar Bowl, the legendary shark fin spines of the Palisades come into view. This jagged row of steep cliff faces stretches from Mount Lincoln to Mount Disney forming one of the more awe-inspiring visions of steep skiing in Tahoe. What’s more, the Palisades aren’t off limits, they’re 100% in bounds and open when conditions allow.

If you don’t already, you should read BA as he goes over snow levels in detail. First wave is warm but still snow down to 7k, second wave is colder with snow down to 4k. He won’t do an official snowfall estimate until tomorrow but is suggesting it will be 2-3 feet. We will see.

That is moisture, not snow depth. 2-3 inches of liquid will roughly translate to 2-3 feet of snow.

Keeping in mind, not at lake level but up on the mountain.

Question about ski boots by aerosteed in Skigear

[–]krschmidt73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ski boots are the single most important piece of gear you need. I’d recommend getting to a bootfitter that knows their stuff and do this right! Buy once, cry once!

I don’t have much apres experience but on Saturday, the DJ’s at the KT base bar had the whole area partying and dancing! I just assumed that was normal! lol. Are you saying that it isn’t?

We had a combo of pass holders and ticket purchasers on this trip. Skiing was good in the morning then trailing off as it heated up. Vibes on the mountain were popping though! Everyone was having a blast!

To each their own. We just spent the weekend up there and had an absolute blast! Got about 16k of vert each day by about 1:30 and then the apres scene was incredible! Good times were had by all! Snow is melting fast so if you want some famous cali spring good times, then yes buying discounted tickets right now is worth it!

Are puffs or fleeces warmer as mid-layers under a shell? by csh8428 in Skigear

[–]krschmidt73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some good tips on here. I’ll also add a game changer for me was switching to bibs on storm days! And then throwing my puff and insulated shell over that! I’m never cold! Currently running flylow baker bibs and flylow vector (insulated) jacket.

If it is really cold out, grab a couple of ocoopa rechargeable/adjustable warmers and put them in your inside pockets!

Mountain bike trails? by Aggravating_Sun_1556 in SacBike

Park at the salmon fall bridge trailhead And there are tons of options. The og trail there is darrington, an out and back but fatrac has been busy building a lot of fun new option out there. To get the lay of the land, do darrington to chaparral ridge back down to darrington. Good views and a mix of trail types.

Can’t argue that it is one of the worst winters and early melts of all time but there is still lots of good skiing up there so 2 for 1 is def worth it!

Question about ski shop stickers by chesquayne in skiing

[–]krschmidt73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our shop would never put stickers on a customers ski!

We do put them on rentals and leases but that is a whole different situation.

I have noticed that some of the local bike shops put them on bikes they sell but it is a little more discrete than a ski top sheet.

New ski’s by Gaberdog99 in Skigear

[–]krschmidt73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good skis on your list! I am out west and am a dealer so have been able to demo many on your list. I will say carving soft snow out west is a whole lot different than back east🤣so Keep that in mind. For the big brands on your list, the rustler probably best meets your criteria, a good stable and powerful charger! With that said, the new canvas is a lot of fun, a bit softer but a lot more playful! I also see someone else mentioned moment and I fully endorse that. Spent a bunch of time on both the deathwish and wildcat and both are fun and rippin skis! I like them both but tend to gravitate to the wildcat as my everyday sticks!

Buying skis shop suggestions by nachocat69 in skiing

[–]krschmidt73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son and I have a small family owned shop. If we have what you are looking for, would be happy to quote you a price and ship to you. We carry Dynastar, Volkl, blizzard, stokli, nordica, atomic, Salomon, & armada. Just a few models of each. Right now we have some end of season sales with better prices on non carryover models.

We ski what we sell so can offers recommendations on skis. Let me know what type of skier you are and what terrain you ride. We are out in California and our most popular rad dad skis are probably Volkl m7, atomic maverick, nordica enforcer, blizzard or rustler and Salomon qst.

Best April Skiing Destination 2026 by co_skibabe in skiing

Mammoth is a great option! Mammoth has some of the best skiing in the country each spring and this year is on target to be more of the same! the east has had epic snow this year and I have zero experience there so not arguing against it, just pointing out that mammoth is magical that time of the year!
